I Wish I Had a Million Dollars

by Michael A. Verdicchio

What would you do with a million dollars? Some believe that having a million dollars would solve all their problems. Yet most just continue to wish they had a million dollars but never do anything about it.

Whether it's having a million dollars, finding the right person, or weighing thirty pounds less, most people live their lives wishing. They wish things were different and that they had the things they desire, but very few are willing to really pursue those dreams.

Volumes have been written on how to obtain your dreams. But this article is about as simple as it gets. It explains two very basic but very important steps that you can implement in your life right now.

Have you ever noticed that some people, even though they know what they want and desire, consistently proclaim that they will not get it? You hear phrases like, "I could never lose thirty pounds," or, "I'm not lucky enough to meet the right person for me," or, "My finances have always been lousy."

How can you ever hope to live your dreams when by your own thoughts and words reveal a "not for me" sign? You're convinced from the start that something would be really nice, but you will never get it. That's a great way to spend your whole life wishing and never receiving.

For your dreams to become reality, you must first refuse to accept any and all notions of the opposite outcome. It really has nothing to do with whether or not it is possible or whether or not you deserve it. The question is, do you really desire it? Do you really want it?

Far too often people ask themselves, "How could this possibly happen for me?" Then they begin to list all the reasons why it will not. They don't deserve it; they don't know how to obtain it; they are not smart enough. And, the list goes on and on until there is only one conclusion: it's not for me.

You are the only one in charge of that "not for me" sign. Take it down. If it is something that you really desire for your life, then it is for you, because it is your dream. So first, take down the "not for me" sign.

Before you move to the next step, make sure that sign stays down. You do that by guarding your thinking. Remember, negative thoughts about your goal or desire will put the sign back up, and you cannot move to step two unless the sign is down. No wonder you can read numerous places in the Bible about the results of your own thoughts.

The second step is to do something every day. I told you this is about as simple as it gets. You need to actually take action and do something every day that is related to your goal or dream.

I'm not talking about reading your affirmations, or doing visualizations, or reading your goals out loud. Those things may or may not be beneficial for you. I'm talking about taking action every day that is related to your goal.

Find three to five things that you can do every day. For example, if you really want to change your weight, do something related to your diet and exercise. Write down three to five things that you are going to do every day.

Keep your actions simple and attainable. Perhaps one action could be to walk a half a mile every day. And as you walk, remind yourself why you are walking; to reach a certain weight. Another action could be to eat a healthy snack every day. You can always adjust and modify these actions. The point is, regardless of your dream, keep these actions simple, and hold yourself accountable to do them every single day.

Whether it is your weight, your finances or your relationships, wishing does not bring you results. Get rid of the "not for me" sign. Then, consistently do something every day that is related to your goal.
