The air conditioning became more famous among people after the Second World War. Since then there are great achievements made by different companies to enhance the functionality of the air conditioning. There are thousands of companies manufacturing the air conditioners with the product rate of thousands per day. An average air conditioning company produces about 1500 to 3000 air conditioning units in a day. The air conditioning history starts from the second century; many different models were manufactured by different names during the years. In 1902, Willis Haviland Carrier invented a machine similar to the air conditioners that we are using now days. He named the machine as "Apparatus for Treating Air" and was prepared for the Sackett-Wilhelms Lithographing and Publishing Co.

This machine was designed to cool the air and lower the humidity up to 55%. The machine became very popular and was installed in some hospitals and pharmaceutical industries. This machine was very large, expensive and also very dangerous. Willis Haviland Carrier used the ammonia as coolant in this machine. The machine was popular, however in 1922 Carrier made some major changes and he reduced the size with central compressor. In 1925 Willis Haviland Carrier sold the air conditioners to the movie theaters in New York City. The popularity of the air conditioners was flourishing magnificently as by the end on 1930 the air conditioners were installed in most of the government buildings. The window units were appeared after the Second World War.

Whenever it comes to the home appliances, we always prefer the recognized companies. Sometimes it is brand consciousness and in most of the cases we prefer to know a little bit of the history regarding the product and the company. Most of us are well aware of the name Mitsubishi; they are very famous in home appliances as well as in car manufacturing. The Name Mitsubishi is a combination of the two Japanese words "mitsu" which means three and "hishi" which means water chestnut. The Japanese usually convert the "h" into "b" when it appears in the middle. Yataro Iwasaki was the founder of the old Mitsubishi. Yataro Iwasaki named the company as Mitsubishi Mail Steamship Company.

The second president of the company, Yoanosuke Iwasaki changed the name to Mitsubishi Company. The Mitsubishi Air Conditioning starts from the year 1954, when they launched their first home air conditioning and have the credit of introducing the first split unit in Japan. They made great achievements and their every achievement contributed to enhance the efficiency and performance of air conditioners. In 1967 Mitsubishi Air Conditioning introduced the new type of split units called Kirigamine air conditioners.

In 1968 Mitsubishi also introduced the first ceiling-mounted, split-type air conditioners. They didn't stop introducing the excellence of the engineering as in 1975 they introduced the industry's thinnest air conditioner. There are some more great achievements made by the Mitsubishi, in 1994 they introduced the motion detector air conditioning systems. The unit has the sensors and they make the air flow towards the person automatically. Mitsubishi Air Conditioning has a great reputation over the last few decades and is still contributing a larger part in the manufacturing of high quality air conditioners.
