A Credit Control Job CV
by Darren Tidmarsh
There a numerous websites out there providing good information on building a basic CV. However in this article I am going to give you tips on what you should have in your CV from a Credit Control Manager / Finance Managers point of view. I previously worked for two Recruitment agencies working in the Finance sector and now work for http://www.CreditControlJobs.com Where I communicate with Finance/Credit Control Managers on a daily basis. Before I jump into mentioning specific details I wanted to talk about the difference between sending you CV directly to an employer and sending it to a recruitment agency. When sending a CV directly to an employer for a specific job you have the chance to tailor the CV to suit the job description. There is a number of ways you can do this and it often makes the difference of getting called for an interview or not. If the job description is directly from an employer you can take a look at their website. If this isn’t on the job description you can type it in at Google and normally find the web address from there. Worst comes to worse you could call the company directly and make some excuse up to find out exactly what they do.Useful things to find out here is :--The industry the company works in.-How many people work in the accounts department.-How big the company is as whole etc..All this information allows you to tailor your CV in a way which is appealing to the employer. For instance if the company in question was in The Aerospace industry and you have previous Aerospace experience you want to point this experience out in both your CV and your cover letter/email. You can do this with anything else you deem relevant. If you can find comparisons with the company and thing you have done in the past it is important to make this clear where you can because these are strong selling points that can put you ahead of the rest. When it comes to applying to jobs through recruitment agencies you are better sending a generic CV as the agency may put you forward to various companies in different industry’s and of different sizes using the same CV. Although it is against the Terms of conditions of most job websites, agency’s often post fake jobs so they have a ready pool of candidates when they are looking to fill a job. There are a number of things that a Credit Control or Finance Manager will be looking for in Credit Control CV. - First of all it is important to mention the type of debt you have experience collecting, be it business or consumer and the methods you used for collecting the debt (Telephone, letter, email etc..)- How many accounts you were responsible for.(were they large or small?)- Have you studied MICM exams?- What reports to did you give at management meetings?- Did you have a monthly/quarterly target? In addition employers are looking to see if you will fit into there existing team. If the accounts department for the job you are looking at is reasonably large you maybe want to mention that you work well in a team and enjoy team building exercises. Remember adding this sort of information to you CV is invaluable. A Credit Control Manager with 20 CV’s in front of him and a deadline to get someone on board isn’t going to call you and interrogate the information he needs from you. Especially if he already has 3 CV’s that have. For more CV help please visit the Credit Control Jobs website(http://www.creditcontroljobs.com)
