My Home Decorating Experience

by Holly Trees

My Home Decorating Experience I bought my house about 8 years ago and little by little I was making it my own. About 2 years ago I and my family suffered a house fire. As devastating as that was I found that the old saying "Every cloud has a silver lining" held true. I had a blank slate! They gutted my house. Removed the hated paneling on the walls. Tore up all my carpets and flooring. Removed all the cabinets and fixtures. I had electricians, plumbers, contractors, dry wallers, painters and may others coming to me daily with questions and wanting decisions that needed to be made. HEADACHE!! After the weeks and months of that then the hard part started. Blue has always been one of my favorite colors so it isn't a stretch that would be incorporated into my decor. Mostly walls and carpets. However, my biggest decorating decisions started with the wonderful couple who designed my kitchen, I mean I picked out the cabinet doors you know the shape and color ect. The sink and faucets, but when it came time to choose the knobs and handles I was stumped! The choices were staggering! I had chosen flooring that looked like slate and a counter top that looked like granite. (Obviously I was working with a budget) So because I couldn't choose just one on my own, there were so many I liked I decided to go with something my other half (the welder) would like. I went with a black iron the knobs look like Celtic knots and the handles look like square knots. But from there (and even I never would have dreamed how well it would turn out) grew my decor. Lamps, plant stands, clocks, candle holders, hooks and hangers, even the drapery rods! I just fell in love with it all and the home decor items on Kangasweld!! Now I just wish I had a mail box.
