What I hate about Rocket Spanish

by Anthony Dwyer

If you've ever read some of my articles or looked around my website, you'll know that I love to shower praise on Rocket Spanish. It is a great product and I actively recommend it to anyone who asks me how to go about learning Spanish. But today, it's time to reveal one of the things I absolutely hate about Rocket Spanish. One of the things that made my life hard while travelling around Spain.

Before I get into that, let me give you a bit of background on my Spanish speaking ability. Until Rocket Spanish came along, I was pretty inexperienced when it came to learning Spanish. I'd had a go but never with much passion and my lack of Spanish proved this. But I finally got some motivation and bought Rocket Spanish and went right through it. This way, when I went over to Europe, I would be able to communicate basically in Spain.

And communicate I was. Every change I got I made sure I was using my new found skills. Ordering coffee, asking directions, meeting pretty girls. I was loving being able to speak another language. However, there was one thing that made me hate Rocket Spanish. It only struck me one day when I was asking for directions to the toilet, of all places. Instead of just saying "over there" or "on the left" the guy let rip with detailed instructions on how to get to the toilet. I suddenly realised that he thought I spoke fluent Spanish!

After giving him the "rabbit in the headlights" look for a couple of seconds, I managed to mumble, my Spanish isn't perfect. He gave me a slightly surprised look and proceeded to tell me how to get to the toilets in a much easier manner. And this wasn't the only instance I had of Spaniards thinking I spoke Spanish perfect. It would happen quite often. I would tell people my Spanish was bad, only to be told that I was just being modest.

So if you are going to buy Rocket Spanish, be aware that you may be mistaken for a fluent speaker. While it is a compliment, it can be quite funny and frustrating at the same time. But as long as you are polite and courteous, you will be accomodated very well by the locals. For an in depth review of Rocket Spanish, visit my site in the link below.
