Joy In Collecting
Joy is the emotion of great delight provided by someone or something significantly valued.
It is the state of happiness that is sometimes difficult to describe. There is that joy you feel when you know you have the inherent confidence that are loved by someone special, when you get to buy the latest Onitsuka pair of shoes or even when you add a new item to your already existing collection of warships, planes, and cars, we find joy in a lot of things and in a different circumstances. All these things may cause a man to experience joy or an inner sensation of jubilation.
More often than not, individuals start collecting and gathering things because of that joy and passion that they have towards certain objects. Early on, others realize that they have the power to collect caps or cards. Toy cars, marbles, or dolls, during our younger years we begin to collect these objects that we are fond of which cannot be acquired in one sitting but requires daily habit of collecting. This is actually the very importance of collecting. Through time, in your collection, you pike up valuable items. To your collection, what gives its actual value is the time involved in completing you array. In other words, collectors find the greatest pleasure in patiently and tediously completing their collection more than the financial rewards that they might have later on.
This is the very objective of the collection .While there are individuals who spend a big amount of money in order to complete their collection so that they can turn them into treasures after ages, most collectors find direct satisfaction and joy from their collection by just showing them around visitors and friends. The financial rewards only come in too later, for no collection gets to command auction prices after just a year of collection. I read an article from Yahoo.com about an old man who had possession of a rare Ming dynasty vase. This rare find, after 600 years of being hidden in the public eye, emerges into the public's eye and now commands a hefty $1.6 million price tag after 600 years of being hidden from public eye. Not all collector's items get to find the same way, as a matter of fact, not most of them. But it serves to say that most collectors are not motivated by monetary gain. Theirs, however is an innate joy and satisfaction that comes along every item that gets added to their collection, tediously, slowly, one time after another, through the years. That's what the real essence of collecting is all about. That's where its delight lies!
