Now that you have made your choice and are going to hire a car transport company to move your car to the new destination, what do you do now? To plan your care move successfully, you will first need some knowledge of the industry and what options are available to you.
Finding a Car Shipper The advantage of hiring a car shipper independently allows you to request several quotes from different companies and compare service, price, and availability. Be mindful that this will require additional planning and coordination, so consult your long distance movers to see if they can provide a list of preferred auto transporters.
You second option is to have your long distance movers handle all the aspects of moving your car. This allows a simpler, hassle free approach. If you decide to go this route, your moving company will coordinate pick up and delivery schedules for you, but keep in mind that most moving companies will charge an additional fee for providing this service.
Method of Shipping There are a few methods of how your car can be shipped. In the open trailer style, your vehicle will be transported on an open trailer that is either partially or fully exposed to elements of the road and weather. Open trailers are usually 20%-40% cheaper than an enclosed trailer, however, there is less protection for your car. The Enclosed trailer style allows more protection for your vehicle from the elements of the road and weather, as your vehicle is shipped in a mobile garage or storage unit.
Size of the Carrier Smaller carriers, such as 3-5 car carriers, will give you more control over scheduling issues. Because you share the trailer with only a few other cars, the chances are that fewer delays will occur since fewer delivery times need to be coordinated. Smaller carries, however, can be more expensive. Your second option is to go with the large car carrier, which will most likely be cheaper as you share one trailer with many cars. While large carriers can transport up to eleven cars, keep in mind that the more cars on the trailer, the more effort will have to be put in scheduling.
