4 Hen Party Ideas

by Tamara Jacobs

So your best friend is getting married. The man of her dreams finally popped the question and she's made you her maid of honour. You can hardly wait, after years of friendship it only seems appropriate that you would be helping her every step of the way. And help is what she is going to need. Maids of honour tend to have quite a lot of responsibility. From planning the hen party to helping pick out the bridesmaids dresses and a million other things they are the bride's right hand woman.

A lot of people assume bachelor and hen parties have to be totally over the top. While they can be just that, they're not every bride and grooms cup of tea. For those brides who seek something a bit more chill and civilised here are a few hen party ideas:

A luau party:

If the weather is nice and you have some outdoor space, you might choose to celebrate with a big luau party. Sip on marguerites and munch on guacamole while painting coconut shell bras and dancing around in hula skirts. Make sure that you're well covered if spending a lot of time outdoors, the last thing you want is a burnt bride!

A group bike ride around wine country:

If you have an athletic group of girlfriends who enjoy delicious wine you might organize a bike tour through a few vineyards. A fun touch might be to dress up in prom style dresses- you'll look hilarious on your bikes!

A trip to a capital city:

One idea that is guaranteed fun is a weekend trip to a capital city with your group of friends. Get everyone organised and booked on flights early so that you can keep costs down. Plan some fun dinners and nights out and you're sure to give the bride-to-be a weekend she won't forget.

Bar hopping about town:

This might seem like a regular night out for some, but you can make it extra special by setting challenges. For instance if the night begins with dinner where all the girls are given a list of ridiculous things to do, like get a guy's number, or get a picture of a guy kissing you. The person with the most things checked off the list wins a prize! With all the drinks you'll be having, it's likely a few of you will become very brave!

So you see, hen parties don't have to be wild and outrageous, just fun and special.
