• Weakness or numbness in the arms or legs

• Loss of coordination

• Increased confusion, restlessness or agitation

If one of these symptoms occurs, dial 911 or call for medical emergency assistance right away.

The agency also advices to keep the person still until the medical help arrive. Keep the injured person lying down and quiet in a darkened room, with the head and shoulders slightly elevated. Do not move the person unless necessary and avoid moving the person’s neck.

If there is bleeding, apply firm pressure to the wound with sterile gauze or a clean cloth. However, do not apply direct pressure on the wound if you suspect a skull surface.

If the person shows no sign of circulation such as breathing, coughing and movement, begin CPR.
