Quick and Easy Steps to A Beautiful Complexion
Three minutes per day that buy you perfect skin FOREVER
It's actually very simple to take good care of your skin! All you need is a simple but effective daily regimen which you can, and do, adhere to. Just ten minutes a day spent cleansing, exfoliating and moisturizing your facial skin will create and maintain a perfectly smooth complexion which glows with good health.
Like everyone's, your skin is 100% unique. So creating a routine that caters to your personal facial requirements will take a little time and trial. Finding out what various things do for your skin, and what your skin requires, will help you in the creation of a custom skin care schedule that meets your own, unique, skin's requirements to a T.
First, find out what skin type you have. If you often notice flakiness, irritation or papery wrinkles, you probably have the 'dry' skin type. Alternatively, if you are prone to spots, pimples or acne, or find your skin gets shiny through the day, you probably have an 'oily' skin. Most likely, in common with the majority, you get some oily spots in the center of your face and flaky patches on your cheeks. If so, you have 'combination' skin, which generally requires a more customised care routine.
When buying skin care products, remember your skin type and choose your four basic skincare products - Cleanser, Exfoliant, Moisturiser and Intensive Treatments - from ranges designed for your skin type.
You should be cleansing your skin twice a day, morning and bedtime. It's a good idea to cleanse thoroughly before re-applying makeup too, for example before going out for the evening. The cleanser removes dirt and grease, and is important to keep your pores clear. When choosing a product avoid cleansers that contain alcohol, as this can cause dryness. Choose a gentle product which is robust enough to remove grease, dirt and makeup, but without destroying the natural oils in your skin that keep it healthy and happy.
After cleansing, moisturise. Even those with oily skin should moisturise after every cleanse, and if you choose the correct product for your skin type this will not contribute to the oiliness of your skin. Moisturisers exist to prevent irritation, and reduce redness and dryness in the skin, promoting a smooth texture. Choose products that are labelled as non-comedogenic, these do not promote the spots and blemishes some other products can. For most skins a water-based product is the safest and best choice.
Exfoliants should be used one to three times weekly to keep the surface of your skin looking dewy and new. Exfoliants work by gently removing dead cells on the skin's surface so that new, fresh, young skin growing beneath is revealed. Choose a specifically facial exfoliant, not a body scrub!
From time to time your skin will need a boost or a little extra help to overcome problems such as dryness, acne, wrinkle formation or discolouration. This is where your intensive treatment or masque comes into play. Purchase a ready-made, store-bought product, or make one yourself, selecting one which specifically targets the problem you want to deal with. Use these masques once a week or when you feel your skin could use a little extra attention.
