Keeping Students Happy With Stickers
In the classroom a teacher has many different personalities to contend with and teach. Having a reward system in place helps the students to achieve their goals. Homework stickers make great incentives to see the students following instructions and completing tasks outside of the classroom. Offering a goal sheet that guides the student to a reward gives the child excitement about working towards what is offered and it ensures their homework is submitted.
Individual sticker charts work well with behaviour and allow a student to see progress as they accumulate stickers throughout the week. Offering them reward for their daily collections gives them incentive to continue. Things such as extra time on a fun activity or offering them a free homework pass. Trees are nice accents to the classroom and offer students an opportunity to fill them with sticker leaves. Placing a leaf on the tree for completing tasks lets them visually see the tree fill up as the class works together as a group. Stickers offered for good behaviour in the dinner hall are positive reminders for students. Collecting them can offer a student a spot as line leader or even a head start to the dinner hall before others.
There are many varied ways to incorporate reward systems into the classroom. Teachers can use this activity in harmony with their teaching techniques to merge curiosity and determination along with learning. Allowing students to physically see how their hard work pays off gives a teacher an open mind to fill with knowledge.
