IVF Fertilization Rates

For women who have problems with infertility, in vitro fertilization is an option that they may choose to enable them to get pregnant. In vitro fertilization is a process in which the egg is removed from the ovaries, combined with the sperm, and injected back into the uterus. This is a means by which infertile women are able to get pregnant, as the inhospitable conditions of the uterus is often a factor in infertility and the inability of women to become pregnant.

Pregnancy Rate

Women who are younger than 35 years old have, on average, a 47.6% chance of the IVF fertilization resulting in a pregnancy.

Women who are between the ages of 35 and 37 have, on average, a 38.9% chance of their IVF fertilization resulting in a pregnancy.

Women who are between the ages of 38 and 40 have, on average, a 30.1% chance of their IVF fertilization resulting in a pregnancy.

Women who are between the ages of 41 and 43 have, on average, a 20.5% chance of their IVF fertilization resulting in a pregnancy.

Live Birth Rate

Women who are younger than 35 years old have, on average, a 41.4% chance of their IVF fertilized egg resulting in a live birth.

Women who are between the ages of 35 and 37 have, on average, a 31.7% chance of their IVF fertilized egg resulting in a live birth.

Women who are between the ages of 38 and 40 have, on average, a 22.3% chance of their IVF fertilized egg resulting in a live birth.

Women who are between the ages of 41 and 43 have, on average, a 12.6% chance of their IVF fertilized egg resulting in a live birth.

Type of Egg

When fresh donor egg embryos are used, there is a 55.1% chance of the IVF fertilization resulting in a live birth.

When thawed donor egg embryos are used, there is a 33.8% chance of the IVF fertilization resulting in a live birth.

As you can see, the chances of your pregnancy resulting in a live birth is much better if you are younger, but there is still a chance if you are older as well. It is important that you understand the IVF success rates in order to ensure that you are prepared for your IVF fertilization process to not take effect or show results the first time you try. Many women find that they have to try the IVF process repeatedly in order to finally get pregnant and have their child born. It will be worth the wait, though, once you can finally hold your new baby child in your arms.
