Words that Inpire: Champion

by Julie Cohen

Be Your Own CHAMPION

Dictionary* says: A militant advocate, winner of first prize, uphold, support

What it REALLY means: Someone ‘in your corner’ who supports you unconditionally; the act of believing in yourself and your abilities, strengths and talents; the feeling of accomplishing all that you wish.

Why it MATTERS? Having a CHAMPION, professionally and/or personally, makes challenges easier, and celebrations more meaningful and joyful. Being your own CHAMPION turns “what’s wrong” and “can’t do” into “what’s next” and “how to.” CHAMPIONs make things happen for themselves and others.

Questions that INSPIRE:

* In what area of work or life would you benefit by seeing yourself as a CHAMPION? * What would it feel like to approach professional projects and/or personal challenges as a CHAMPION? * What change can you make today to make yourself more of a CHAMPION?

I would love to hear your answers and comments. Take 45 seconds to reply to these questions. I will keep all responses confidential and reply directly to you.

CHAMPION Quote: “Champions aren't made in gyms. Champions are made from something they have deep inside them: A desire, a dream, a vision. They have to have last-minute stamina, they have to be a little faster, they have to have the skill and the will. But the will must be stronger than the skill.” – Muhammad Ali
