By convention, a baby shower is intended to help parents get items that they need for their baby, such as baby clothes. Every baby cries, but babies who cry for more than three hours a day, three to four days a week, may have colic. The term "infant" derives from the Latin word in-fans, meaning "unable to speak. Newborns lose many of the above physical characteristics quickly.
