The US Election According to the Stars - by Thomas H Lindblom
Horoscope for the US Election to be held on 4th November, 2008
6.00 New York. AS 5.33 Scorpio
The chart reveals the presence of many power blocks. As always with presidential elections in the US, the sun is in Scorpio with the latter rising. Significantly, Mars is in Scorpio and in perfect square to Neptune. This reflects a very strong masculine prevalence. The relationship between Mars/Neptune corresponds very much to the history of slavery in America, which augurs well for Barak Obama, the new Deomocratic hope.
Horoscope for Barak Obama ,August 4th, 1961
13.06. Honolulu, Hawaii. AS 17.30 Scorpio
A birth time of 13.06 has been suggested by astrologer Frances McEvoy. Though it is an ambiguous time, it offers a 17 degree Scorpio Ascendant, which is quite close to election Mars. Surprisingly, Obama’s Mars and the US Mars are within a degree of each other, making Obama a perfect spokesman for the black people and a natural representative of the macho spirit of America. Although with a white mother and a Kenyan father, he does not possess the traditional and true African American heritage. Obama has quite a conservative Mars/Saturn trine, indicating the possibility of a decline in the war fever that currently grips America. This is unlike George Bush. While he was in presidency from 1988 – 1992, the Sun/Uranus square activated the US Mars, which was perhaps a reflection of the onset of the first Gulf War.
Obama’s oratorical talents indicate the strong possibility that he was born post noon, with the Moon in Gemini. This moon forms an ideal trine to his Jupiter in Aquarius. What is noteworthy is that the US presidents’ inauguration takes place on 20th January, at noon, which places the Sun at 0 degrees Aquarius. In March 2009, the March retrograde is expected to be precisely conjoining the Sun and within 4 minutes of the arc. Jupiter is expected to be at 3 degrees Aquarius - quite extraordinary, considering the Jupiter of Barak Obama is at 0.53 Aquarius.
Obama’s horoscope shows an absence of any behavioral problems, which means his detractors will experience a setback when trying to smear his image. Previous presidents were not so lucky. Clinton, with his Mars/Neptune in Libra had a very public fall from grace with Monica Lewinski and Jennifer Flowers. President Nixon’s Mercury/Mars was in opposition to Pluto and led to his pubic problems with secret tapes and bad language. There may be a possibility of inflation with Obama’s Sun square Neptune and his Moon square Pluto indicates issues of women’s rights and abortion. Overall it appears more than likely he will be hard working and extremely popular.
Obama’s star till the time of the actual elections indicates the possibility of extraordinary progressions. His Venus (which was at 1 degree Cancer when he was born and only 2 degrees from merging with the US Venus) advances to 27.03 degrees Leo, which is directly opposite the US Moon at 27.10 Aquarius. This indicates the possibility that he will still be the focus of attention at the time when the elections are being held. Moreover, during the time of the elections, his progressed sun is at 27.59 Virgo, trine US Pluto, which indicates black power. In the event that he gets elected as president, during the 4 years that he is in office, the sun is expected to travel from the trine to progressed Jupiter and then to the trine of radical Jupiter.
It is still too early to say for sure but the one thing that is certain is that Hillary Clinton will get rather upset should this scenario happen. However, she does have an abundance of flaws. A conjunction of Mars/Pluto at 14 Leo square Venus at 16 Scorpio could increase her vulnerability to charges of financial secrecy and power abuse. An example of this is the Whitewater scandal. Also, her retrograde Mercury is in Scorpio precisely square Saturn, which have the power to destroy here should any secrets surface. Despite all this, she has still managed to survive so far.
Taking another look at the election chart, another powerful influence that can be seen is the conjunction of Moon/Jupiter in Capricorn on Election Day. This indicates an electorate that is conservative minded and wants solutions that are realistic and careful. The electorate is likely to vote for the person who swears to proceed with caution when building up the institutions and the economy of the nation. This is in perfect agreement with Obama’s Mars/Saturn trine to Capricorn from Virgo. More importantly, by the close of the elections, the Moon will go into Aquarius, which is exactly on Obama’s Jupiter.
Another major influencing factor on the day of the election is the rare opposition of Saturn/Uranus (within a minute of the arc) at 18.58 Virgo/Pisces. Last seen in the mid-sixties, this opposition takes place only once in approximately every 45 years. This indicates a powerful discordance between the new and the old, which could be between young and old, male and female or black and white. Fortunately with Jupiter in Capricorn trines and sextiles Jupiter and Saturn, the pitched battles that were characteristic of the mid-sixties, can be averted. Starting in 1965 with the Watts riots, continuous battles ravaged Cleveland and San Francisco in 1966; Baltimore, Detroit and Newark in 1967 and Washington, New York, Chicago and Baltimore in1968. Though the sign positions were reversed in the last opposition – Uranus was in Virgo and Saturn was in Pisces – the message that it conveyed is a slight variation of chaos and order; those without privilege and those with decent existences. Universal health services could obviously be an astute election platform.
Fortunately for the opposition, this time Pluto is not in the equation. However, it does conform to Venus in Sagittarius, which could indicate the possibility of there being a female candidate standing for election. Moreover the female contender will be someone unique. This brings to mind Condoleeza Rice, with her Venus in Sagittarius and a powerful Sun/Mars conjunction in Scorpio. But, she is not contesting the elections and there is not indication that she intends to, yet.
Other Republican candidates include Sen. John McCain and New York mayor Rudy Guiliani. McCain undoubtedly echoes with the US Chart, his Moon is on the US Pluto and his Venus is on the US Mars. His Venus is in accordance with Neptune and in opposition with Saturn, which is possibly the reason why, as a victim of the Vietnam War, he was in a prison camp in Vietnam for 5 years. With his Mars in Leo square Uranus, he dropped bombs as a pilot and was famous for his very explosive temperament. His Moon is in opposition with Pluto and brings back too many memories that the Americans would rather forget. Moreover, at the time of the election, he will be 72 years old. However there are strong indications of the presence of a generation gap between the candidates contesting the presidential elections.
At the time of the election, the US (Sibley) chart progressed horoscope is extraordinary on many counts. There will be a progressed full Moon in November 2008, with Sun at 4 Pisces and Moon at 2 Virgo. While on one hand, exactly in December 2007, the Sun trines progressed Saturn, on the other hand, exactly in 2011, the Sun progressed Uranus, indication there would be some explosive developments taking place in the US during this time. The full moon alludes to the nations’ polarization as well as a polarity between male and female population.
In addition, there is also the newly retrogressive Mars and its surprising opposition of progressed Venus. This indicates a polarization between female and male and the very strong possibility of a combination o f male/female, President/Vice President. There are strong indications of the nation being profoundly split on the gender issue. When Hillary Clinton first entered the White House as a spouse, Venus had just entered Aries. The ensuing energy is embodied in Hillary and reveals a fighter who is a woman the same way that Mar in Libra reveals a male appeaser.
All said and done, a combination of Obama/Clinton would still be rather odd; there would be an over-abundance of history, all taking place at the same time. However, November 2008 is all set to be a time for making history. Also, it is rather impossible to imagine a scenario where Hillary Clinton would take second place. She may have done it before, but her pattern reveals that when she compromises, it would only be for strategic reasons and nothing else.
The horoscope for the election reveals that a focus on the rampant inequality that polarizes the Americans as well an improvement on healthcare initiatives are sure tickets for the Democrats to win the 2008 elections.
