The Natural Foods That Thins Your Blood

by James S Pendergraft

Blood circulation in every cell of our body keeps us healthy and helps lead a healthy life. A person whose blood gets clotted or who has sticky blood is always prone to the risk of Cardio-Vascular accidents, brain conditions, high blood pressure and other problems.

It is always good to have a balanced diet as well as consume foods that are naturally available rather than packaged. The foods which have high amount aspirin substances like salicylates, omega-3 fatty acids, Vitamin-E supplements and natural antibiotic properties are always good for thinning your blood. This helps in healthy circulation and aids in leading a healthy life. Let's look at five natural foods that are good for blood thinning:

1. Salicylate Foods:

Ginger, Curry Powder, Turmeric, Cinnamon and Cayenne Pepper are high in Salicylate foods. In Ayurveda these are called warming spices because of their nature of blood thinning and circulation. Some dry fruits like Raisins, Cherries, Strawberries, Blueberries, Grapes, Oranges, Capsicums and Cucumbers that are rich in Vitamin C as well as Papayas (combination of Vitamin A, C, B), Honey, Peppermints, Vinegar and Chewing Gums are all rich in Salicylate. Consume Apples which are high in Rutin (an antioxidant which is anti-inflammatory, anti-allergy and increases the levels of Vitamin C). These are easily available foods and should be taken as often as possible.

2. Omega-3 Fatty Acids:

Fish oil is high in Omega-3 Fatty Acids and it lowers the cholesterol levels, thereby making the body less prone to blood clotting. For non-vegetarians, eating fish such as Mackerel, Anchovies, Salmon, Albacore Tuna, Lake Trout, and Herring gives the necessary Omega-3 Fatty acids naturally. For vegetarians, it is available as a capsule which can be taken as per the doctor's advice.

3. Vitamin E Rich Foods:

Tofu (both silken and firm), Spinach, Broccoli, Cabbage, Cauliflower, Pumpkins, Nuts (Almonds, Pistachio, Walnuts), Avocados, Shellfish and Sweet Potatoes are rich in Vitamin E and help in thinning the blood. Be careful about taking too much of Vitamin E as it might result in excessive bleeding or haemorrhage, as Vitamin E is an antagonist to Vitamin K.

4. Natural Antibiotics:

Ginger and Onions are natural antibiotics that kill intestinal bacteria that manufacture Vitamin K which helps in blood clotting. You can also take olive oil which is a good antibiotic.

5. Blood thinning Beverages:

Beverages like Orange Juice, Pomegranate Juice, and Cider are all good for blood thinning. Pomegranate is a blood purifier and also stimulates the flow of blood to the heart.

Remember, always consume food like the paleo-age men, that is, in its natural form rather than processed or packaged. These foods are rich in protein and help you to dissolve fats easily as well as keep you feeling full for longer, thereby helping to avoid overeating and junk foods. Avoid Sugar which has no nutrients at all. Instead, take Jaggery as much as possible as it is rich in iron and its benefits are galore. Keep your liver healthy which in turns lowers the triglyceride levels and thins your blood. Take 8-10 glasses of water a day.

The above foods are natural and available easily throughout the world. There are no chemicals or preservatives added to them. So, no side effects and they help you in leading a healthy and happy life!

Remember always "Health is Wealth"!
