New Build Homes For A Deposit Of £5,400 At Barratt Homes Scheme Launched In Woking

by Keith Osborne

Barratt Homes has enjoyed considerable interest from property buyers and investors over the launch weekend of New Central, its development of new build homes in Surrey, right in the heart of Woking own centre. The landmark scheme has a great specification and thanks to new funding from the Government-backed FirstBuy scheme, purchasers can get on the property ladder at New Central with a deposit of just £5,400.

A well-attended launch event on Friday 15th July was followed by a busy weekend of appointments as the Barratt Homes sales team showed around hundreds of people interested in buying a home at the scheme. The 21-storey tower comprises 449 apartments, with studio and one- and two-bedroom layouts, penthouses and live/work units, as well as some commercial units that will house a host of useful shops and services. Prices for the new homes start at £135,000.

"It has been such an exciting time for us to finally be able to open the doors of New Central after years of hard work," says Lynnette St-Quintin, Sales Director for Barratt Southern Counties. "It looks fantastic and we feel confident that it will be a popular choice for both investors and local first-time buyers looking to get onto the property ladder."

She adds: "The very fact that we have seen so many appointments made over the launch weekend shows that there is real demand for apartments in such a sought-after location. With its prime town centre location, high-quality finish and contemporary lifestyle on offer within half an hour of London, we are expecting New Central be a popular choice for purchasers."

The introduction of FirstBuy, the successor to the previous Government's popular HomeBuy assistance schemes, will be of special interest for those looking to take their first step on the property ladder but are struggling to save the huge deposits required by many banks and building societies.

Lynnette adds: "We are very pleased to be introducing the recently launched FirstBuy scheme at New Central. The Government scheme will potentially benefit hundreds of local first-time buyers who are struggling with the demands of a hefty deposit now required by most mortgage lenders. The scheme means that first-time buyers in Woking will be able to buy a stylish new apartment with a deposit of just £5,400."

Woking is currently undergoing a £250 million regeneration programme in its town centre, upgrading amenities and expanding the range of local services. It is 23 miles from London, with a 25-minute commute into London from the town's station, which is just five minutes' walk from New Central. At peak times, there's a train into the Capital every eight minutes, with four trains an hour even at off-peak periods. The A3, M3 and M25 are all close to Woking. It's just 25 minutes to Heathrow Airport and 45 minutes to Gatwick.
