Internet Promotions Vs Old School Door to Door
Okay, so when you find leaflets in your mailbox you automatically assume its the pizza boy leaving you junk mail again, or maybe a local builder/window cleaner but whatever you think, you always have a quick glance at it. These pizza companies don't expect you to pick it up and beign reading from top to bottom, they rely on that very first glance!
So when promoting, don't think door to door is a waste of time because the reciepant will only glance at it and then chuck it away. It's that one second glance that turns an average person into a curious customer. Door to door promotions are all about finding colors, schemes, layouts and designs that will 'catch the eye' and 'keep the reader curious'.
On the Internet, advertising campaigns are very vigorous because everyone is competing for that #1 position in search engines, on advertising websites and banner rotations. It's almost impossible to get good enough results and people are forgetting that offline promotions are still just as successful as they were maybe 10-20 years ago.
I for one have taken the last 3 months away from my online promotions and put them on freeze, I began back in December on designing flyers to send out for door to door promotions. Now, these flyers were to advertise my own business (www.e-bookswarehouse.com) and okay so you're thinking, it's an online business selling digitally downloadable products at bargain prices so why bother with offline promotions? Well simple really, when a user goes onto their computer or onto the internet, they already know what their doing and why they're surfing. They already have a plan on which websites they want to visit and what they intend to do with their time online, so whose to guarantee we're getting maximum coverage for our promotions??
Well, like I said I froze all of my internet promotions and started recording stats from the time I began my door to door promotions and I tell you something, I was amazed at just how much 'local traffic' I was recieving, within a month I was able to cover the costs for the production of my flyers and that's not all, I pocketed £100 in profit from my sales! Okay, so to all the 'big fish' out there it's not much but hey guess what, I only delivered 500 flyers door to door in my local area, now imagine working on a 600,000 customer database across the UK (it's where I'm based).
I could begin hiring people worldwide to distribute these flyers for me and within a year turn my business around, this is my future plan and thought I should share it with you. Although, there was slightly more that I had to do, I had to create a pop-up window on my website so that when people navigate onto my site, the item that was being promoted to them on the flyer will appear in the popup window for their ease of navigation. My popup is unique and unblockable by any type of ad-blocker software that anyone in the world runs. Try it out for yourself, go to www.e-bookswarehouse.com (opens in a new window) and see for yourself if your software can block my popup :) - no it can't, so that results in 100% of my customers being able to see the promotion resulting in a higher click-through rates and thus turning over more sales.
Try something different, don't always follow the crowd. Where there's a crowd, there's less exposure, if you go off and do your own thing, slowly you will get noticed for your bravery and hard work and will surely pay off in good time. From everyone here at eBooks Warehouse, we wish you all the best with future success :)
