How Real Estate Allowed Me To Quit My Full-time Job

by Gary Hibbert

How Hard is it to Leave Your Fulltime Job?

Leaving your full-time job can be very difficult if you don't know where to begin or what to do. Now, on the other hand if you have an idea where to start, it can be easy and I'll explain to you what we did to make it work.

The first thing I want to start off by saying is..... if you apply it, it works!! All I did was implemented what other successful people were doing, listened to their teachings and made the decision to do it. I can say that I've listen to many motivational CD's, read multiple books and attended many seminars. The 2 most common themes that continue to pop up continuously (I do mean everywhere) are.... decide and take action. That's it!!

Decide Now when you're deciding, don't worry about start-up costs or how difficult it's going to be. Just focus on what you're passionate about. For us, it was to help as many people as we can. Then we decided on what we loved. That was easy... we loved our kids and how much fun we have together at home.

We then combined the 2 and came up with 'helping families move into beautiful homes in beautiful neighborhood's. Here's the way I look at deciding..... it's no different than steering a boat and you've decided to head in a different direction. The very first thing you must do is decide where you want to go before you take any action. Like the motivational speaker Jim Rohn said, 'You can't change your destination over night but you can change your direction'.

One of the most important lesson's I've learned is.... the present moment is never intolerable, it's what's coming that cause people to stress. People are always worried about 5 minutes from now, next week or even next year. There's absolutely nothing you can do about it right now.... so focus in the now. In the now is where you make things happen which leads me to the next important step;

Take action Now while you're on the boat, and you've decided where you want to go...... take the steps required to point your boat in the right direction. But what if you end up on the boat and you have no idea on how to steer the crazy thing?? You have two choices at this point.... you can either read the manual or call someone.

This is the part where people give up. They think that they need to do it all on their own. By reaching out to someone you'll be amazed on how many people will share their ideas with you and are willing to teach you what they know.

What we did when we first started was to ask questions all day. I would even ask the same question to different people to formulate my own conclusion and belief. Guess what; we still do because we know there's a lot more for us to learn.

Finally the most important step...... ready?

Once you've gotten a general understanding on how to turn your boat around..... hit the gas!! Don't wait until you're an expert, that will come with experience and the mistakes you'll make along the way. Yes mistakes will happen, but that's a part of life and the growing process. Once you've got your boat chugging along, you can make your mid-course corrections.

What are mid-course directions? They're your goals. Writing down your goals is so important. Without them, you'll have no true direction or destination. You'll be aimlessly floating around in a big ocean trying to find your dream Island.
