It was only in the 1990s, after the appearance of Barry Sanders that things seemed to change for the Lions. In the new millennium, though the Lions are still a powerful team, they face new obstacles in the form of Matt Millen who was hired to be president and CEO of the team. Under Millen, the Lions have experience draft failures and have become saddled with the worst winning percentage in the NFL. In protest a 'Fire Millen' campaign was started by fans, which include chanting the slogan during games and even rooting for the opposing team in the hopes that Millen will be fired.
