Why Travel Cribs are My Favorite

by Mel Bryson

As a parent, I can say for certain that having kids really changed a lot about my life. Now, I was pretty excited about becoming a mother, don't get me wrong. But I was also one of those women who worried about not being able to do all the things they wanted to do anymore. Well, I realized pretty quickly that I should really be looking at it as an opportunity to do even more of what I want to do in my life, and having kids to share that with might just make the journey even more special! After all, there are places I want to go and things that I want to see that I would love for my children to experience as well. Once I had that realization, I was all good.

Different people handle these things in different ways, but I just set out to be more organized and tried to always be prepared for whatever came next. I try to always be very eco-conscious and aware of my impact on the earth and I try to restrict my consumerism as a result, so when it came down to it, there are really only a few big items that I own, but both of them have been so very valuable to me that I feel the need to share my experiences about them here. In fact, even if I hadn't been able to get these items second hand, I probably would have bought them anyway just because of how much easier they have made my life.

Travel strollers are the number one thing on my list of must-haves for parents. They often aren't as big or multi-functional as the ones that many people choose for their daily comings and goings, but when you consider that you get to trade that in for something that will fold up small enough to fit in an overhead luggage compartment on a plane, it is a small complaint. I don't think I would go on vacation without one, in fact. Even though my little ones like to walk a lot more now, they still get tired and want to ride by the end of the day, and I can always use that space to hold bags and save my back the trouble until the kids are ready to hop in.

The second item that has totally saved me is a baby travel bed. I got a hand-me down bed from my sister that we absolutely loved, so once we had our second child, I went straight out to look at travel cribs. They are easy to travel with and allow us to stay overnight with friends and family much more often. It also makes our hotel stays much nicer, as I know that my kids have a clean, safe place to sleep no matter where we land for the night. I also made sure to buy one that had UV protection on it so that we could continue our marathon days at the beach. My kids love climbing into their travel bed to take a nap and get out of the sun, and I enjoy the quite time it provides me to relax on the beach!
