November - A month of Winter bleakness in England. Dark evenings, freezing cold temperatures and the looming presence of Christmas is most certainly here!

But fear not! For there are many short-haul locations where the sun still shines and the temperatures sore, allowing you a last-minute trip perfect for recharging those batteries and preparing yourself for Christmas bliss.

Located in the South west of Turkey, this ancient city is packed with both historical tourist attractions and natural beauty. Being the biggest sea resort in the country, you can also expect your Antalya holiday to provide you with heavenly beaches and bathwater-warm seas.

Of the two main beaches in Antalya, you will find that the shingle beach of Konyaalti is the most beautiful. It stretches for 7km and is bordered by Antalya's cliffs on one side and the wondrous Beydaglari mountains on the other. You can reach this beach via tram that departs from the town centre, giving you the chance to see a little more of Antalya.

If you enjoy seeing the sites on your holiday, then head to the Koprulu canyon. This 400 metre deep ravine is truly impressive. As well as exploring 14km of impressive natural landscape, you can also take a trip down the Koprulu river on a white water raft for the ultimate thrill ride that is also excellent for cooling you down after basking in Antalya's scorching sun!

Within the city you can survey the remnants of the many ancient civilisations that have influenced the Antalya of today. The exquisite ancient structures that permeate the city contrast with its modern, urban side where fancy restaurants, shopping plazas and pubs and bars abound. The huge city wall is the most visible of all the city's ancient structures but other top tips for exploration on your Antalya holiday include the 2nd century tower fortification of Hidirlik located in the nearby Karaaliolu park and Antalya's huge, fluted minaret that sits in the centre of the city and encapsulates the city's links to the past and religion. If you're looking for an Antalya holiday that allows you to explore a little further afield, you could visit the nearby resort of Side. As well as its beautiful beach, you can transport yourself back to ancient times and take a walk around the ancient Roman baths or the theatre that held 17,000 spectators at one point. For even more history, take the 130km journey to the similarly named Alanya - a beautiful city that was built around a fortified harbour and ancient castle boasts a stunning peninsular that juts out into the Mediterranean sea.
