Keep From Getting Colds By Using Methods Of Prevention
There are so many things that you can do to help yourself feel better after you get sick. Of course, the goal is to keep from getting sick in the first place. Your body gets compromised by germs, making you sick, but there are many preventative measures to keep it from taking place. It is important to take whatever precautions needed, to keep from getting the flu or the common cold, since they have no cure, and not allow their spread, especially at the time of year when flu and colds occur most often. Here are some things that you can do to prevent the common cold or a flu from getting the better of you.
Drink as many fluids as possible. You know how, once you've contracted a cold, you're supposed to drink plenty of fluids?
The same is true even when you aren't sick. Staying properly hydrated is one of the best things you can do for yourself, whether or not you're trying to prevent a cold. Protecting your whole body is the purpose of the immune system, and when it is fully hydrated, it functions much better, and is capable of fighting off diseases, such as a cold. Make sure you are drinking at least sixty-four ounces of water each day (or eight 8 oz. glasses of water) if you want to maintain proper hydration. Keep your hands clean. People touch a lot of things, without even thinking how many other people have touched the same thing. Now think about how many of those people are fighting an illness of some sort. What a miserable thought? This is why you need to wash your hands. Your hands transfer germs from the things you touch to the other parts of your body, particularly your face (skeptical? Have you ever counted how many times a day you touch your face? You can protect most of your body, by washing away the germs you pick up, when you simply wash your hands. You can wash away a lot of germs, which will give your health a much better chance to be good.
One way to prevent yourself from getting sick, especially if others are, is to isolate yourself from those who are not feeling well. Staying in your house until flu season ends is not necessary, but if you at least stay away from those who already have an illness, you stand a much better chance of not catching what they have.
There is another possible solution, and that is to provide assistance to others, by having vitamin C for them, or hand sanitizers, along with keeping surfaces clean that all come in contact with, and whatever else works. This is probably a choice that is better for you, unless you don't mind being alone. If getting sick is a big concern for you, staying at home is what you should do, or at least be cautious who you are around. The common cold cannot be cured and that is the truth. In the first place, there are preventative measures that can be taken to help you stay away from both the flu and a cold. Flu treatment as well as treatment for a cold is basically only ways of prevention. Some of the preventative measures might not be much fun, but still much easier than dealing with being sick with the flu or a cold.
