An Easy Technique That Will Get Many More Prospects To Opt Into Your Mailing List
© Copyright 2005 by Keir Smith
If you have ever given away free reports, ecourses, or ebooks from your website, and you would like to explode your opt in list subscribers just by adding one simple step that will take you all of 5 minutes to complete
Then listen up.
Here is a rule that you should know about and follow when giving out "freebies" - one that even some of the guru's don't even know about - but from now on you will...
But before I share with you the super simple secret for getting your prospects to feel totally excited about your free product....so excited, that they'll even crawl over broken glass to get it..
I'd first like to go over a common mistake that emarketers make...
Most emarketers when it comes to marketing their freebies usually don't treat it like it was a paid product. They'll tell you that they have some really cool product that you can get your hands on for free...then they'll scoot you off to some sign up form or pop up box.
Blah, blah, blah...
This is a big mistake I feel, and here's why....
At any point in time you can do a quick google search and find thousands of free ebooks online, and when you consider that most free ebooks usually come with some sort of affiliate program that you can join and begin giving away as well, then there comes a point when the market becomes oversaturated. (In a future article, I'll actually show you a 3 step formula that you can begin using to get your product in your customers hands even if there's thousands of people selling the same product - and will take you less than 9 minutes to set up )
You don't make that mistake do you?
Now I'm sure that you can find some situation where someone has used that model and has done quite well....
But, what you're about to learn is 10x more effective and is really easy to do.
All you have to do is sell your freebie as if it were a paid product.
You might want to read the previous line again if this is your first time hearing this...
Yep, you will sell your freebie just as hard as you would your paid product.
For example....
Let's say that you have a free report "5 ways to strengthen your email headlines in less than 10 minutes" and you want to use it as a freebie.
You could advertise it like this,
Finally....
5 Ways To Strengthen Your Email Headlines In Less Than 10 Minutes
In this 10 page free report you'll learn
Which words you can use in your headline to easily keep your prospects eyes glued to your headlines like a fly to flypaper..
How to find out what your prospects hot button's are (this one tip is so easy, you'll want to kick yourself for not thinking of it before)
Why putting this one little word in your headline is the absolute worst thing you can do. When I used it, I saw my online sales drop as much as 4% in 7 hours.
Okay, you get the idea.
You can start off with a brief introduction, and then dive right into your bullet list. After the introduction is where you really want to pile on the benefits to your readers.
Or in other words, write a brief salesletter for your freebie. Don't leave nothing out. Remember your treating this freebie as if your customers were paying for it.
Another thing I want to mention is that you should have no less than 3 benefits in your offer. Anything less is really not worth mentioning.
You product does offer at least 3 desirable benefits doesn't it?
See, you want to really sell all the benefits of your free product.
I would even suggest that you do as some successful online marketers do, and that is, they will actually give their freebie an entire page all by itself...
If you decide to give your freebie it's own page, then I would strongly suggest that you do not mention anything whatsoever about selling a product. The only thing they will see is a sign up form placed...now get this....not as a pop up, but embedded in the text itself.
Pop up's can be a distraction. Nobody ever comes to your site for the pop-ups, they come to your site for the information. That is where their attention is, on your information, and it's also the perfect place to slip in your sign up form.
This strategy has been often referred to in the past as "lead capture". You want to make your most compelling offer, then tell your prospect that they'll have to leave their email address in order to enjoy all of the benefits your product will offer.
Can you use this email lead capture strategy in your business today?
You bet....
With a few simple tweaks to your sign up form, you can begin flooding you opt in list with new subscribers within the next 48 hours.
Oh, and before I go, I must mention that this strategy works best when you have a high quality product to offer and not just some product your prospects can find anywhere online. The most important part is that you really follow this strategy, and make sure you get their email address in exchange for your valuable content.
The final formula will look like this
Quality product + Effective strategy = Profits
