Is Society Headed Towards Renaissance or Dark Ages?
Perhaps the most appropriate question to humanity is: what spurs collective advancement, and what are the things that can cause a collective downward spiral?
Why is it necessary that we're aware of the factors that can cause us to go one way or the other? We, as a society should work in unison and also as individuals to either make a positive change or a negative change. Each person, as an individual can make the necessary changes to allow this to show in the collective view of the world.
What things can we perform in order to help this turn into a positive effect. We have answers to this but we will need to look into our history to find them. A period that really changed the way people treated each other was the Renaissance. The Dark Ages were a period in where violence, censorship, and repression were rampant. What allows a significant change in this view? One thing we can look at to figure out this problem would be the use of civil rights. The degree to which a person's individual rights were protected, or violated, affected the overall status of the population.
Isn't there something we could do to keep us from going straight back to where we started on a repetitive basis? The world's periods of abundance or constraint have always been determined by people. We will either come to a point where we fight for these civil rights are we allow them to be breached.
Which point have we currently reached? Well, some individuals believe the US, while forward-thinking and advanced in many ways, is headed for the Dark Ages. Don't you believe this might sound a little "far-out" for some to comprehend? The conclusion has been reached by some people and for good reason. Many individuals use the example of the "fight for terrorism" to comprehend this concept. Some things are sold on the idea that they'll protect, but sometimes at the expense of individual civil rights!
What sorts of precautions could we take so that we don't end up in this position again? There are people and organizations whose mission is to help others avoid a collective downward spiral. Keith Raniere has created a model of these organizations called NXIVM. Areas like resources, intellect, and creativity are all things that can affect the way a human deals with things such as collective issues, which is something NXIVM firmly believes in. If people could practice awareness, we would all see a serious change.
One can start by evaluating things in the news, media, and government, and beginning to evaluate who ultimately benefits from the message and/or decisions being made. We can better see ourselves and the things we can do to make a difference if we comprehend the way the world works. If we can evaluate what's happening in the world, then we begin to get a sense for how we want to interact with it, and ultimately have a more fulfilling experience.
