How to Dress for an All Weather Wedding Day
Surviving a weathered wedding
Going to a wedding is great fun. Unless you are organising it, it will be a fun and joyful day with a collective reason to celebrate and an excuse for people to wear their best outfits and to buy a new hat. There is a trend at the moment for people to have weddings outdoors, which while it is nice to get married on a hill top, or in a forest clearing or beside a lake, does bring into play the unpredictable factor of the weather. Nobody, least of all the bride and groom, want to be left standing in the pouring rain while their guests run for cover.

Most weddings take place in the summer, giving you (hopefully) nice hot weather, but also possibly giving you some summer showers, even on the hottest day. Here is how to dress for an all weather wedding.

So assuming that the weather is going to be hot, you will need to dress light to begin with, so a light summer dress is a great starting point. These can be full length or shorter and with straps or something with shoulders. This is the best way to stay cool, but also gives a nice base for in case the weather turns. Flat shoes would be sensible. This is so that if the ground gets wet, you don't lose a high heel in a muddy puddle. Also, they will be ideal for dancing later. As an alternative, if it is wet before you go out, nice colourful Wellington boots can be just as striking as any pumps, if not as flattering on the calf. With these as a base, it is a good idea to have an emergency bag with things in it you can bring out if it does start to rain. Your bag should include a light waterproof jacket. You can get ones which shrink down to the size of a small drinks bottle so can be fit into most sizes of bag. Also an umbrella is another essential item for your bag. These can be as small as a mug and can be found in any colour you need to go with your outfit. If you are slightly larger in size then heading to one of the leading ladies plus size shops would probably be a great idea. People looking for plus size clothes really have a great selection of fashionable items available to them.

Finally, when you have your outfit and your bag, to top everything off, you need a nice big hat. Not one which you clip into your hair, but a proper hat with a nice wide rim. These look great for summer weddings and are also practical for if it turns nasty.

Hopefully these tips can help you look good, stay dry and enjoy your summer weddings.
