Send Guests a Sign That This is the Fun Party Location

by Gail Leino

Planning a party? If so, there should be ways for guests unfamiliar with the party location to recognize that the party is in the area. Party signs are not just for informational purposes but also extensions of the party decorations. Yard Sign Themes. The host can choose from many yard sign themes, depending of course on the party type. Christmas parties should include a fun image such as a snowman or greeting to welcome party guests.

For example, (insert name or names) wish all a Merry Christmas. Make the sign from wooden stakes and plywood, draw the image on the surface on the sign, then hammer small nails into the sign to affix it to the stake. In connect the dots fashion use colored lights to create the desired form. Affix the lights to the nails with plastic ties, wrapping the finished product securely. Using a jigsaw, cut the wood in the likeness of the image; i.e., a snowman. Paint the sign so it will shine just as brightly in the day time as when it is fully illuminated during the evening hours. After the paint has dried apply a coat of sealant. Hammer the stakes into the back of the sign (which can be done before the drawing and painting process begins as well). Then hammer the top of the sign into the ground.

Christmas Signs - ideas such as North Pole, Santa's Workshop, Happy Holidays, Reindeer Feeding Area, Santa: Good Boys and Girls Inside.

Halloween Signs - ideas such as Haunted House BEWARE!, Enter At Own Risk, Witches Coven, Happy Halloween, House of Horrors, ELM St., Insane Asylum, Trick or Treat, BOO!

Stencils: Stencils come in a large variety of themes to coincide with just about any party or holiday celebration. Stencils are fast alternatives to painting letters and images by hand. Simple apply the stencil over the surface and spray paint.

Count the Benefits. The benefits of creating one's own personal yard sign can't be counted. First and foremost, being economical is always a priority, especially around the holidays or when hosting a birthday party. Saving money anywhere for the overall cost of the holiday or a one-day celebration, such as a birthday party, should be considered. Creating a sign may not only save money but is a fun project the entire family can participate in.

For families with multiple members living under the same roof why not make a sign displaying the entire family wearing Halloween or Christmas outfits. This can be done by drawing and painting the family members in cartoon form. A fun, more simple sign would work as well.
