The Squirrels
At 6.30 in the morning I went to the terrace for my usual meditation session. These days I have created interest in meditating on the terrace because of silence and open environment I experience when I meditate there. As I was climbing the staircase to the terrace I saw two squirrels.....
They were playing there totally involved in their game. They were not aware of anything else in the world except their game. They were chasing each other and running all around the terrace, through the space available, through the tanks and all around. I was happy to see them play. Just then I hit a wooden block and it made some strange sound.
Both of them were alerted and frightened as a sense of some danger. The game stopped, the players ran in two different directions. They seemed to be lovers but as soon as they becare aware they left the game and ran for safety, leaving their partner.
This might be a common sight all around us happening not only with animals but also with humans. The fact is as soon as we become aware we give up our game. Our mind is such a thing which always plays games of all sorts. It plungs from one game to another but as soon as it becomes aware of reality it throws itself in the search of truth, it leaves the game of life. But this does not last long, our awareness fades and we again turn to our old games. The key is the awareness of self and surrounding. To be aware of our feelings, emotions and thoughts.
If we just check our mind every 30 min we can find that it always wonders between grief, sorrow, and happiness. To be aware is to enjoy the present more. To be where we are with our body and mind can improve our job quality at hand tremendously and also the job will be enjoyable.
