Causes Treatment and Prevention of Diaper Rash
If your baby has diaper rash, you'll know it once you open baby's diaper and see redness on baby's bottom. Bad diaper rash may also produce pimples or blisters. This redness will appear on the child�s bottomand genitals.
<b>What Causes Diaper Rash?:</b> Sometime during his or her diaper days, babies are bound to get diaper rash. If your baby has diaper rash, it is not a sign of neglect on your part. It's normal for a baby to get diaper rash. The following are a list of common causes of diaper rash:
-sensitivity to urine
-sensitivity to specific brands of diapers or wipes
-sensitivity to laundry detergent used to wash cloth diapers
-soiled diaper left on too long
-diapers that are put on too tight and rub the skin
-bacterial or fungal infection
<b>Diaper Rash Treatment:</b> To treat diaper rash, you must keep the affected area cool and dry. Do this by immediately changing soiled diapers. After you wipe the area clean, let the area air dry before putting on any ointment. Here are some other ways to treat diaper rash:
-pat or blot the affected area when changing diapers, making sure to get it clean
-use a diaper rash cream to protect the skin
-soak your baby's bottom in warm soapy water or use warm water instead of wipes
<b>Diaper Rash Prevention:</b> In an effort to prevent your baby from getting diaper rash often, you can:
-change soiled diapers frequently
-allow the skin to dry completely before putting on another diaper
-change brands of diapers or wipes
-frequently use a diaper rash cream to prevent the skin from becoming irritated
-don't over tighten diapers
-change brands of detergent used to wash cloth diapers
