I Was Very Glad That My Father Tried Some New Treatments For Prostate Cancer

I was upset when my father found out that he had prostate cancer, and I wanted to learn all I could to help him in any way I could, so I started studying the disease to discover what alternatives there are to traditional therapies, which brought me to some new treatments for prostate cancer. I was surprised to find that there were a lot of ideas in alternative medicine about ways to treat prostate cancer as well as ideas of how to prevent it. Of all of the different methods that I investigated, the one that stuck out to me the most, and the one that I recommended to my dad, was prostate cancer hormone therapy.

As I read, I found that prostate cancer hormone therapy works to block testosterone which cancer cells us in the prostate in order to multiply. The reason I thought that this would work, was because my dad was diagnosed early on, and the cancer had not spread, so we were praying that the hormonal therapy could prevent the cancer from spreading.

However, even within the range of treatments that are part of hormonal therapy, there are a bunch of options, and I left it up to my dad and his doctors to decide precisely what they wanted to do and how they wanted to do it. I was glad, however, that my dad did listen to what I had to say about all of the new treatments for prostate cancer and was willing to see what else was out there rather than relying on the same awful, invasive techniques that are becoming old hat rather rapidly.

As he tried the prostate cancer hormonal therapy, he felt good and before long, the doctors told us that the cancer had in fact stopped growing. With some other treatments, the cancer ultimately went into remission and he was soon on the mend, making our fears for his health dissipate.

When this experience was past him, I still felt the urge to learn as much as I could about new ideas in medicine because I feel that if they could help folks like my dad, they could help the millions of other men out there who will develop prostate problems as they head into middle age. Eventually, when given the chance to go to college and make a career for myself, I decided that I will go to medical school and become a doctor, so that I can be a part of implementing new therapies and giving people the means to find new health alternatives and become well.
