Get Off The Internet And Meet The Real World

by Robert Keating

When you're an online marketer, it's not hard to let all of your time get eaten up by your computer. You will be answering email, publishing discussion board posts, working on your sales portals--it is not hard to let entire days get eaten up by time in front of the screen. If you do business from home this means that you might even be going whole days without seeing other living people. This is very unhealthy! You (and your small business) require human interaction if you are going to achieve success. This is also true of companies that are based online. Just what exactly do you need to do? How do you put yourself out there?

The best way to get you and your business out of the house is to go to a seminar. There are conventions happening everywhere daily. You will find at least a couple of them for any niche, audience and market out there. Choose a few of these (one that is local and one that is not) and get a pass. These are great places to interact with new contacts. You'll leave feeling very empowered. It may also help you step out of your house! Lots of fun can be had at conventions and conferences--you should take a look at a couple of them.

Attend local business networking gatherings and parties. Your local Chamber of Commerce probably holds at least one or two of these every year. Additionally, you can call them to find out what other (similar) functions are happening locally. Participate in at least one affair similar to this. Of course, networking isn't really always the most enjoyable thing ever. This does not suggest, however, that you can't have a great time at them. More importantly, these are excellent places to improve your local connections and business relationships. It's impossible to tell when you are going to find an individual who is helpful both in developing your business and making more profit.

You should think about purchasing or leasing a space in an office building or in a "co working" space. This puts you out into the real world each day while also giving you a space you could devote to your company. The benefits of working here are things like shared meeting and break rooms, copy and print services, and much more. There will be many people around to talk with when you get stuck. What's even better is that it gives your business a non-residential address and a place at which you can see customers. This helps your business seem both more professional and legitimate.

Provide a class to your area. You are definitely an authority in your niche. Why not do a lecture or talk on that subject or teach a class for your local community? One of the best things about this option is that it will give you the chance to bring in more money as you can ask people to pay an admission fee. This proves to locals you are aware of what you're doing and will help you make contact with prospects.

It is not healthy to live in front of your pc, even when you are doing so to help your business. If you genuinely would like to be successful and thrive, you should get out and interact with people.
