What Are The Predictions For 2011

There has been a lot of talk about 2012 and it being the end of the world. There are some amazing phenomena's happening around this time, and there have been a few bleak predictions made. So let's have a look at what is being said.

The Mayan Calendar

The Mayan calendar, also referred to as the 'Mayan Long Count calendar', comes to an end at 11 minutes past the 11th hour on the 21st of December 2012. This time and date is known as the 'End of Days'. We are on the last cycle of the Mayan calendar and this has lead to much speculation with some believing in cataclysmic or transformative events. Mayan philosophy says that time, rather than being linear in nature as currently believed by science, is spherical, and therefore time, like the Universe itself has a beginning and an end. At the end of a cycle of time there is a renewal or evolutionary event. The New Age interpretation of this event says that the Earths inhabitants could undergo a positive physical or spiritual transformation, and that this marks the beginning of a new era. Other interpretations are World Wars, the end of the world, shifts in the Earths poles and even Alien invasion.

Nostradamus Theory

Nostradamus predictions for 2012 paint a bleak picture of massive destruction and havoc brought about by a comet. It is not clear whether this comet will strike the earth or will pass very close to our planet causing massive earthquakes and other cataclysmic occurrences. But all interpreters of his quatrains are united on the opinion that it will be a comet which will come somewhere in December 2012. Nostradamus writes in one of his quatrains 'In the sky will be seen a great fire dragging a trail of sparks'. This line clearly suggests a comet and many are of the opinion that it will be very big in size. Certain interpreters put the size to be just a little less than the planet Jupiter, and if such a comet passes close to the earth the effect of its gravity will cause the oceans to rise and could cause earthquakes.

Solar Flares

The Sun has a natural cycle with a period of approximately 11 years. During the lifetime of each cycle the suns equator spins faster than its magnetic poles. This causes stress and a build up of energy. This eventually triggers solar flares. Solar flares are very energetic events. The largest flares may generate enough energy for 100 billion atomic explosions. This is not usually an issue as these events happen 100 million miles away. The Earth is nowhere close to the blast, although there are theories that a big enough solar flare my cause a shift in the Earth's magnetic poles. The next set of solar storms is due in 2012.

Pole Shift

There is much speculation regarding the shift in the Earth's poles. Some scientists do not believe it can happen while others say it is already a measurable change. The Earth's magnetic field is what saves our atmosphere from being blown away by Solar winds, so any change could leave parts of the planet vulnerable to increased radiation from space. Some say that the Earth's poles have shifted, and even reversed, many times before. Maybe this was the cause of the ice age? What is known is that any change will lead to all sorts of communication issues as satellites will be severely effected. Some say a shift in the Earth's poles could create calamities such as floods and tectonic events while others say they would not threaten life on Earth.

Planetary Alignments

Jupiter the planet of opportunity and spiritual growth will be in Gemini forming and aspect to Saturn in Scorpio and Pluto in Capricorn. This triangular alignment of 3 major planets around the 21st of December 2012 is known by esoteric astrologers as a Yod or 'finger of fate'. Saturn is the ruler of Capricorn and Pluto the ruler of Scorpio. By occupying each others signs the significance of this powerful influence is enhanced. This combination of planets helps us to define our basic needs and understand what is of real value to us. By understanding what truly lies at the core of the basic challenges faced by humanity, we may attain the wisdom to adapt and modify our behaviour appropriately, thus creating a more stable and sustainable approach to life on this planet that will secure our future and that of Mother Earth.

Galactic Alignments

On December 21, 2012, our sun will line up with the centre of our galaxy. At the very centre of our Galaxy there is what astrophysicists call a 'super-massive black hole'. The energy and density of this super-massive black hole is so great that not even light can escape. This black hole's gravitational energy extends to the very edges of the galaxy; it must do to hold the form of the galaxy together, including our solar system on the outer edge, just as the gravitational pull of the Sun extends far enough to hold the planets of our solar system in orbit or planets in turn hold their moons in orbit. The transition of Earth through the plane of Galactic Centre has never before happened in recorded history. Once again this has created much speculation.

Planet X

Planet X (a.k.a. Nibiru) was spotted by astronomers in the early 1980's in the outermost reaches of the Solar System. It has been tracked by infrared observatories; seen lurking around in the Kuiper Belt and now it is speeding right toward us and will enter the inner Solar System in 2012. The effects of the approach of Planet X on our planet could be biblical. Planet X is a bit smaller than Jupiter and the gravitational pull from this planet could cause earthquakes, the seas to rise and even killer solar flares.

Conclusion

We really do not know what is going to happen in 2012. Maybe something, maybe nothing. We are probably best to be happy living moment to moment, maintaining a conscious heart space for the planet we live on and all the beings that share it with us.
