You Are The Author Of Your Life

As a young child I found myself wondering how everyone had ended up in their respective families. Because of my wide-eyed curiosity I also wondered about the meaning of life. Why was I here? What was I supposed to do with my life? How did I get here? Who am I?

I began to intently observe others. I discovered that there were similarities and differences that people seemed to have in common. It seemed that most people wanted to feel loved and to give love, to feel safe, to have a sense of belonging, to be acknowledged, to be understood and to understand, to have peace and happiness, to become successful in whatever they do, to be respected and to be told the truth. On the other hand, some of the differences were that people have different ethnicities, cultures, religions, languages, countries, socio-economic status, philosophies, talents and abilities.

When I was young these observations were overwhelmingly confusing. My mind was filled with questions of "why this and why that?" But the 'whys' just led to more 'whys'. I didn't have any answers to my questions and the questions didn't help in guiding me on a path that was for my highest good. Because of this seemingly never-ending cycle of confusion that led me to feel like I was a victim of my circumstances I stopped reacting and went within myself by meditating to find the answers to my questions about the meaning of my life. This led me on another journey of discovery. It was a journey of not reacting but a journey of contemplating and becoming clear, focused and aware of my role and the role that other people and situations played in my life. I chose to focus more on me, to be more comfortable with who I am, and to come from a place of love, empathy and truth. When I was happy then I could view the world with a positive frame of mind. I could then live a more fulfilled life. That's when I decided to take each experience that I had during my lifetime and formulate a hypothesis of the meaning of life. As my experiences changed and as I grew older, this hypothesis was tested and has not altered much.

The hypothesis is that I realized experiences are just experiences of our human life. If we learn lessons from our experiences then we won't need to repeat these same experiences again. Life is an adventure. Each person's life is unique and new. It cannot be repeated by anyone. Just live 'The Secret' that says what we focus on expands. The universe doesn't have any judgment so we must be careful of what we think, say and do because we are the authors of our lives. We can focus on the negative and receive more negative experiences or we can focus on the positive so positive experiences, situations and people are part of our lives. For example, if we want happiness we must have happy thoughts, and speak and act with happiness. This simple formula is easy to use in our everyday lives.

We have more control of our lives than we realize. Choose love, happiness and peace. After all, what you think, say and do plays a big role in the way your life will be! Begin today and your tomorrows will be filled with happier experiences for you.
