Starcraft 2 is an incredible real time strategy game. The original game was 1st class, but now the latest version is just awesome in a word. Starcraft 2 is based around 3 races and the starcraft 2 tactics that are a must, If you dont plan in this game - Your dead!

The 3 races are:

The Terrans who are fighting their way into space and eating up planets and systems to clain as their own (think Colonial Marines out of the Alien's series) the terran forces are the weakest of all the races when you strip them of weaponry, a colonial marine would not stand a chance against a zergling or protoss equivalent in hand to hand combat, However, once you put that marine inside his body armour and awesome weaponry at hand, you've evened up the odds considerably

The Zerg, insectoids whose numbers make up for their lack of sophisticated weaponry (think Aliens, or perhaps the insects of Staship Troopers) Zerg's simply do everything in large numbers, they can overun the other races easily if not checked, this is what they did to the "Protoss" homeworld, one of their most devastating tactics is the "zergling rush" where hundreds of zergling's are sent to overwhelm the enemy, and it works if the opponent is not aware of what's about to happen.

The Protoss, hive minded humanoids with awesome weaponry at their disposal (think the "Borg" from Star Trek fame with extra physic abilities) The protoss are an enigma in many ways, they are not as many of them as terran or zerg, but they make up for it in awesome weaponry, much of it laser and sometimes physic based, however, a well defended protoss base camp with appropriate defensive weapons can halt even the zergling rush, this is where other tactics would have to be called in.

Even though the game is fun, its a real time strategy game and they take some getting used to if you decided to become a really good player, starcraft 2 tactics mean that you simply don't have the time to think like a turn based strategy game, that why many people need help in the form of a tactics book etc. The game is very much like the "Rock - Paper - Scissors" game, where for every move, there is a counter move, and that's what makes the game so good. Now if you think the single player experience against the PC is good, then the multi-player experience is literally out of this world, as there are hundreds of moves and counter moves, however without help, you may struggle to reach the higher scores.
