Go around the whole foundation of your house and plant mint. The unpleasant smell will prevent them from entering your home. Sprinkle mint leaves around affected areas if you have a mouse problem. This usually repels them, but the leaves used must be fresh.

Make sure that your home's exterior is kept clean. Maintaining the area around your house and keeping the inside clean is very important. Qualified humans are only able to tell you if one-third of the house is termite-free. A properly trained dog can check out one hundred percent of your home. They can smell for methane gas, which is a byproduct from termites.

Rat traps can effectively be used to deal with any rats that you have at home. Ensure that there are no clogs in your sinks and drains inside and outside your home. Anything that might be found in your plumbing can be food to a wide range of pests and can even give them a great place to reproduce. Once drains are clear, check them monthly.

Make sure mosquitoes have no place to hang out in your home. Drain places that are harboring stagnant water. Mosquitoes are known to be in places with as little water as what is inside of a can of food.

Because you are now knowledgeable on how to eliminate pests, you need to put these tips to good use. Try to rid your home of them immediately so you can save yourself the annoyance of an even bigger problem later on.
