Think of what it would mean to be free of pain and inflammation! All those days of anguish and suffering in pain – not wanting to get out of bed. It can really be a challenge until you decide to make changes. You can do this with lifestyle changes and mind shifts. Lifestyle changes include what you eat, your exercise regime, and your feelings of gratitude.
3 Steps to start your journey to become free from pain .. . 1. Changing your eating habits can make a huge difference – when was the last time you had 4 servings of vegetables in a day? Once you get into that habit you can feel the energy in your body. Experience all the many different types, colours and textures of veggies. You require greens like broccoli, kale, chard, yellows like squash, yams and carrots, purples like eggplant and beets and whites like radishes. Veggies help to rebuild your body. The best way to eat your veggies is to steam them to keep the flavour and nutrient value inside the vegetables. Fruits are also important – fruits are cleansers in the body and what a selection we have with fruit – everything from apples, pears, mangos, pineapples and even tomatoes – yes they are a fruit! Veggies and fruits have lots of enzymes and minerals and are best eaten raw or steamed. Taking some good supplements and juices may also help you feel more energy. The key is to shift from processed, dead food to fruits and veggies.
2. How often do you walk, run, jog, dance or go to the gym? Exercise – some form of movement depending upon your ability - is so important – if you do not use it, you lose it. Simply do some deep breathing to start if that is all that you can manage! Find some form of exercise that appeals to you – not something someone else told you to do! It must be fun for you – that way you will raise your energy levels, create those wonderful things called "endorphins" (happy hormones!), find some relief from pain and inflammation, and want to do more with your body. Be sure to check with your health care provider to see if you have any limitations on the type of exercise you may want to do – mountain climbing is not possible with sciatica! Any form of exercise is very rewarding – enjoy the benefits as you start to feel better.
3. Are you grateful for the things that you are blessed with in your life? The more you are grateful, the more great things come to you. On way to do this is to keep a gratitude journal – every night before bed, go to a quiet place, get out your "special journal" and write down 10 things that you are grateful for that day – one may be that you were grateful to be able to clean your teeth. Record it – as you change so will your gratitudes.
When will you start making changes now? Every day you will feel better and better with your improved eating habits, supplements, exercise and gratitude! I wish you well with your lifestyle changes and mind shifts - may they be well worth your time and energy!
