For Building An Online Business, You Need Three Tools
Like a skyscraper, an online business must be built from the ground up. Some are built faster than others depending on the builder's learning curve and work ethic. Despite the speed of building, both skyscrapers and online businesses have to have a solid foundation.
For an online business, the foundation has three parts.
The first of these parts is what is called a capture page. Some people call it a squeeze page or a landing page, but it's all the same thing. It is simply a web page that invites your customer to sign up for more information by email. Some marketers offer freebies as incentives for people to sign up. The only job of this page is to get the would-be customer to enter their email. I've seen several new business owners try to do all their selling from the capture page. It doesn't work. Just get the email.
After the customer signs up, they are taken to the second part of your online business's foundation, the sales page. The sales page is a website that lists all the benefits your product or service brings to the customer. If it is like most sales pages, the customer will browse it for a few seconds, maybe a minute, and then click off. Actually, most customers never take out their credit card until they've seen your offer about six or seven times. This is nothing to fear though, because the third part of your foundation is about to do its job.
The third foundational piece of your online business is called an autoresponder. The job of the autoresponderis to send follow up emails to those customers that opted into your list. These emails should be written to educate your potential customer on your product or service and to let them get to know you and more importantly, get comfortable with doing business with you. Remember that people do business with those that they know, like, and trust. The autoresponder helps build that trust. Once you have made a sale to them once, it is much easier to continue to do business with them.
All successful businesses that I know, use these three simple tools as the foundation of their business. If you want to build an online business you should become very familiar with them. If you use these three tools properly, you can build a business that will pay you for years to come.
