Fine Dining Should Be A Fine Experience

When reading up on a new restaurant to visit, so many claim that they are a fine dining experience. To be fair the term fine dining may be one thing to one person and another to a different person. However, there are three very important characteristics that determine if your selection is truly a fine dining experience.
You may find a very fine hamburger at one location, but this cannot be considered fine dining at its best. First, you would expect an Award Winning chef to be at the helm. The menu should include items for all palates including prime beef, fresh fish, poultry and several specialty items like lamb. The choices will all be mouth-watering when you read them and you may have difficulty making up your mind. There will be prime steaks of different cuts and temptations from the ocean you would expect to find at a seafood restaurant. They will all be cooked to order and to perfection. The presentation will be exemplary.
If you had your mind set on spaghetti and meatballs do not look to a fine dining restaurant. However, this type of upscale dining will have a few local dishes but with a new spin.
In upscale dining you will be exposed to an upscale wine and liquor selection. Do not be timid in asking for a recommendation because most fine dining establishments will have a seasoned sommelier who does nothing but assist patrons with their wine selections.
Look for the best in customer service. When you enter the restaurant you will be treated as if you and your companion were the only customers. In upscale dining you will experience some little things that when all combined make your evening truly special. The servers are well-trained in the little details like holding the chair for a woman and de-crumbing your brilliant white tablecloth between courses. They will also be well-versed in the menu offerings and can make excellent suggestions.
The atmosphere in a fine dining restaurant will be reserved but not pretentious. The management wants you to return. Some restaurants will have soft music in the background but you will be able to hear all table conversation. Some upscale restaurants will have a person playing a harp or a violin. Some may go all out with large crystal chandeliers and lots of gold and mirrors. Others will have fresh flowers on each table as well as tapered candles. It all depends on the vision of the owners.
Your evening at an upscale restaurant should be an experience you share with your friends. The food was perfect, the service outstanding and the ambiance was peaceful and serene. Who could ask for more?
