Exploding Your Website Traffic Through Article SubmissionSearch engine optimization, also known as SEO, has undergone many changes in the past few years: that's to say, it's become far more challenging. There was a time when it was sufficient to upload a few poorly-coded, keyword-stuffed html pages; join a few link exchanges; spam a few forums; and sit back as your site climbed to the summit of the search engine results pages.Fortunately, for the average web surfer, this is no longer true. You see, the search engines deploy little scripts, nicknamed spiders or bots, which read all the html on the web, before processing via secret, patented algorithms. Now, the algorithms vary slightly across search engines, and, the factors which decide a website's ultimate ranking are the source of considerable debate among professional search engine optimizers. (Yes, the existence of this career may surprise some, but, it is a lucrative and burgeoning field, rife with considerable debate.)Nonetheless, there are several things that are largely agreed upon among the search engine experts: that the old easy methods are no longer effective (in fact, you may actually be penalized for such "black hat" techniques); and, a website climbs the rankings by having non-reciprocal, inbound links pointing at it from other websites which are thematically similar. That's to say, one must somehow establish that a bunch of websites have hyperlinked one of your keyword phrases and pointed that keyword hyperlink at your website, while you, in turn, make no mention of their website's existence. This can be quite challenging to achieve. Why should a website point links to you (effectively sending traffic from their site to yours) while you make no mention of them? After all, the resistance to this non-reciprocal linking model is what allows Google's Adsense pay-per-click advertising practice to thrive. You see, the webmaster (advertiser) is forced to form a monetary relationship with the big G, who in turn delivers the webmaster's ad on various, thematically related websites; and, in turn, the webmaster (advertiser) pays Google a certain sum based upon the number of times her ad is clicked. So, wow! The web has gotten to a point where a new website has to actually pay to receive traffic? Because, what's the alternative? Persuading other webmasters to put a free, keyword hyperlink pointed to your website, while you do nothing for them? Why would they do that? Because, you actually do have something they need: content! At this stage in the SEO game, just about the only way to establish the much needed multitude of nonreciprocal inbound links is through article directory submission. A web article directory is a site which categorizes and archives thousands of articles on just about every subject imaginable. The authors of these articles are generally everyday people-like you and me-who have some expertise in a particular subject, and, who, in most cases, have some type of business, service, or website, which they'd like to promote. So, the author writes a focused article, generally between 500 and 1000 words (much like the one you're reading now) and submits that to the article directory. The author benefits because she can add, generally, at least one live hyperlink to the bio box at the end of her article. If she's savvy, she'll hyperlink a particular keyword phrase which her website is targeting. So, for example, if Susie Smith is selling blue widgets from her website, whose url is www.susiecreations.com, her bio box might read: Susie Smith studied business at the Wisconsin Widget Institute and happily runs a Blue Widgets Website. This is the key to the wonderfulness of writing articles for article directories. The search engines-all of them-love a highly targeted keyword phrase aimed at a website. Had Susie made her hyperlink Susie's Creations Website, she'd still benefit, but hyperlinking the words which people actually type into the search engine's text field is far more effective. And, the search engines will love you all the more if you don't reciprocate the link. Thus, the article directory has become a search engine optimizer's best friend. With an article submission, the author may gain dozens of links back to his site. However, as I said, the search engine game has become quite tough, and even these dozens of links will not usually be enough to make much of a difference. If you study top sites in Google, you'll see that they have thousands upon thousands of links pointing at them.In order to achieve this, it would be necessary for the webmaster author to write a multitude of articles and manually submit them to hundreds of article directories. And, although possible, you can imagine that it would be incredibly time-consuming. And, of course, your time should be spent creating fresh, vibrant content for your own website, which you're trying so hard to promote.William Cross effectively recognized this conundrum and created a software application which specializes in mass submission of free articles from http://www.articlesender.com . From a simple, web-based interface, the author easily sets up a user account, enters into the bio box a bit about herself and the hyperlinked, keyword phrases she's targeting. She then previews her article to ensure it's grammatically clean and reads well. She then clicks submit and just like that her article will soon be dropped in over 30,000 webmaster faces. And, she's on her way to the top of the search engines results pages.
