Discount Watch or Counterfeit?

With everyone trying to make a quick buck, it's hard to tell which stores are legitimate and which are just looking to rip you off. Not every store will sell a fake for $50. Many will sell them for a few hundred dollars and that's when things become confusing.

A real company needs to make a profit and selling watches that costs thousands of dollars for 75% off is not the way to make money. Also be on the lookout for "supposed" luxury brands that you've never heard of. A quick Google search can tell you if these brands are excellent or far from it.

Then go to a store and study what the real watch looks like. Doing this will allow you to easily notice a fake. When you find a discount watch, look at the manufacturer's logo. The logo is often wrong or reproduced poorly. Next, check to see that all the features and designs are the same. Then test out all the features. Most top brand name watches will have a crystal face, while fakes will simply use glass because it is cheap. An easy way to test the material is to scratch the face. Crystal is scratch resistant. However, it's unlikely a seller will allow you to do this. Instead, you can place a drop of water on it. Water will bead on crystal and smear on glass. Because counterfeit watches use cheap materials, the watch will feel noticeably lighter. A heavy watch can indicate a real one.

Just remember that a discount watch that sounds too good to be true, probably is. If you want a luxury watch, then you must be willing to pay the price for it.
