Las Vegas is the Place for Grand Canyon Bus Trips

by Lea Fallon

In Vegas, Grand Canyon bus trips are the best 1-day adventures you can do. Choose the one that's suitable for you and your family. Check out this article.

Bus Passengers Can Visit Either Rim

Grand Canyon tours are available seven days a week. Some go to the South Rim (at 270 miles away, it's a 5 1/2 hour ride), while others do the West Rim (that one's 120 miles from Sin City and it only takes 2 1/2 hours to get there). These fun tours last all day, so be careful about making evening reservations for a show or dinner on the same day as your tour.

The two rims are very different from each other, so choose the one that interests you most. The South Rim offers amazing natural beauty, while the West is more oriented toward excitement and a variety of activities.

South Rim

The South Rim sits at an elevation of around 7000 feet, which is much higher than the West Rim, so the temperatures are cooler. If you go to the West Rim, summertime temps routinely exceed 100 degrees Fahrenheit. The West Rim is surrounded by desert, but the South Rim is covered by pine trees.

The West Rim

If you want to experience the canyon floor, you can ride a mule down the trail or hike down, unless you go to the West Rim, because that is the only place helicopters can fly down to the bottom of the rim. And you definitely want to go to the canyon floor so you can take a fun float trip along the smooth water section of the Colorado River.

The Glass Bridge is also situated at Grand Canyon West.. This is the amazing all-glass structure that lets you walk out 75 feet past the edge while you're suspended about 4,000 feet above the bottom.

Schedules And Routes

The buses generally take off around 7 am and get back to Vegas between 8 and 9 pm the same night. Don't miss the early departure time or you'll have to take your tour another day since there are no later departures.

The route to the Grand Canyon takes you by beautiful Lake Mead and the massive Hoover Dam, and your bus will probably stop for a quick photo op at the dam. The Hoover Dam is fantastic, but if you want to tour it, you'll need to book a tour on another day since your stop will be a short one.

From there, South Rim buses go to Kingman, AZ, where they pull over for a rest stop while West Rim coaches turn off onto the Mojave Desert to reach the West Rim via the Indian Reservation. Following that, the bus stops again at Williams, AZ, and lets you out so you can enjoy a satisfying and delicious buffet lunch. After lunch you'll head for the National Park, where most tours give you up to three hours to explore highlights like Yaki Point, Grand Canyon Village and Mather Point.

All-Inclusive

Since these Las Vegas tours are all-inclusive, you don't pay extra for your buffet lunch on the way to the South Rim, the box lunch at the West Rim, taxes, or Park fees. These tours are extremely popular because they offer so much fun for such a great value.

Summing Up

My goal here is to give you some basic info about the Grand Canyon bus tours setting out from Las Vegas. Book your seats early in case the tour sells out. Also, buy your tour directly on the tour operator's website because that is where you get the lowest rate.
