Incorporating Reproduction Furniture Into Your Interior

by Dave Jones

Stools are a relaxed, casual method of seating. Often associated with cool hangouts, such as American bars, they come in a wide variety of different styles and forms. Depending on what room or interior you require seating for, stools can be moved around easily and handy for a plethora of occasions. Not only delightfully practical but there are a lot of fashion aware pieces out there too. They can come in useful for a multitude of functions, such as in the office, in the kitchen, underneath the dining table and sat beside your dressing table.

If it is a traditional wooden finish which appeals then there is the classic bar stool to consider, inspired by English and Irish pubs. This is a charming and retro way to seat guests during drinks parties and gatherings. These are usually made from sturdy oak or walnut and represent the shabby chic theme perfectly. Often rustic and well-stressed if kept in traditional public house style, presuming you are looking for reproduction furniture and not antique. Traditional style bar stools are a genius idea for a bachelor pad, as they ooze masculinity and will give any living space a fun atmosphere. These are available in a range of prices depending on factors such as whether they feature a back support and arms, a padded leather seat and other luxuries, but a plain bar stool will not cost you a fortune.

Alternatively a stool with a chrome or stainless steel frame is very contemporary and can be quite striking. A tall stool of this type can give a modern edge to a kitchen, ideal when accompanied by a breakfast bar. Once again the chilled out vibe remains a key quality of these long legged alternative to chairs. These are easy to clean and durable, and are compatible with a multitude of uses throughout the modern home.

It is also worth considering the seat cushion, as it is likely that a stool will be an addition to an existing interior scheme built up over the years. Think of a colour that will harmonise with your current theme, or if the location of the stool is likely to change from time to time opt for a neutral colour. If this is the case, it would probably be useful to go for a stool which is lightweight too. Stools with arms or a supported back are often heavier, and therefore harder to transport from room to room.
