People Need Printed Forms
Think about how many pieces of paper change hands in a single office every single day; needless to say, the number is a lot and can be downright staggering at times. Office workers - even those who do not work in a traditional office space - need printed forms for one reason or another. But what are those reasons? Here are some answers to that particular question.
Office life is both hectic and complicated; printed forms help simplify the day-to-day chores that need to be done. For example, an employee needs to take a day off or two the following week and while it is certainly possible to simply walk up to the office manager and ask for the day off and then go about the rest of the day, it is not expedient. And it is not reliable. That is not to say the manager is not trustworthy enough to relay the message to their own higher-ups, it is just that manager has their own work that needs doing and may not have time to inform his or her own bosses or the right department. And sometimes they just forget, which may not be entirely their fault. A printed form stating that an employee is taking off a couple of days of work is a physical reminder that has a much better chance of going through the proper channels. The manager can hand over this printed form to the Human Resources department and they can then record the employee's intention of taking a small vacation.
Another common form that sees use in many offices is the supply request form. Offices go through so many supplies - e.g. pens, notepads, desks, PCs, and so on - that it only makes sense to have a printed form designed to request office supplies. This removes the chaos and misunderstandings that can be caused by employees simply walking into the supply room and taking whatever they need. Supply request forms helps employees keep track of who has what items, who needs what items, and what items they need to order more of for the office. It would not be a good idea for the office to have too little of the supplies that they need or to lose track of big ticket items like computers, monitors, chairs, and so on.
Printed forms are important in that they make office life more expedient and more efficient. Time is money in business, after all.
