Supercars for Supermen
The cars that some of us will only ever drive when we’re fast asleep
Superman is a tough guy, much stronger than your average Joe. Supercars are tough cars, stronger than your average “folk’s wagons”. Wrong! Supercars are made of carbon fiber, and they are ultra light. So why are they called supercars then, why not give the title to the fuel guzzling Humvee, or the immortal Land Rover Defender? I don’t have the answer to this question. One thing I know though, these are not your average cars.
Just like most (if any) of us will never see Superman, most of us will never see a supercar in their entire life. I saw one the other day; a white Mercedes SLR. The car didn’t have that growl you’d expect from a supercar, but the earth shook as it passed by. The driver didn’t seem to have a care in the world-he felt like superman. I wonder how much of a superman he’d feel like if a Ferrari Enzo would pull up next to him by the robot…Italy versus Germany, like those epic soccer matches between the two nations, only this time, Italy will surely win. Taking nothing away from the SLR; it’s no match for Ferrari’s signature car. Named after Enzo Ferrari, this supercar is something special. There are only 399 of these babies, and you can only buy one by invitation. So even if most of us could afford to fork out the steep asking price, we’d still only dream about owning one-this supercar defines exclusive.
I don’t know much about the inside of a car…by that I mean the engine and all those wires. There’s one thing I’m dead sure of though; ten radiators in one car is not normal. I repeat; ten radiators in one car is not normal. Actually, ten radiators in a supercar is not normal. I could be wrong, but I don’t even think there’s a car with even three radiators. So what were the engineers thinking, what is the logic behind this? They wanted to build the fastest car in the world. And they did. The result was a1001bhp, 10 radiators; the car reaches a top speed of 407km/h. The car has a 100 liter fuel tank…but according to Top Gear; it would take 12 minutes to go from full tank to a Shell garage. And at that speed, if the car didn’t have its rear wing, it would literally take off-like Superman!
So I suppose what makes these cars supercars is what’s underneath the hood. The more cylinders in there, the more supercar it is. Well in that case, the world’s greatest car; is the Bugatti Veyron…and people like you and I will never see one, let alone be in one-what a bummer.

Juice is going to own a supercar one day. Until then, I will have to do car rentals from my local car hire company.
