Experience Hot Summer Fun In Magical Lanzarote

by Dave Talbot

Spring is a fantastic time to visit Lanzarote as this popular holiday island is covered in wild flowers at that time of the year, There are loads of good reasons for booking your summer break on the holiday island of Lanzarote in the Canaries. As this Spanish owned holiday destination offers great beaches and wonderful weather. With rainfall during the summer months almost totally unheard of. A complete contrast to the UK where forecasters are already predicting another washout this year.

As a result of this great climate Lanzarote has been a hot destination for tourists from countries such as Germany and the UK for decades. Accommodation choices on the island are superb with everything from Lanzarote Villas and an amazing array of stunning attractions the island has something for everyone.

Lanzarote is arguably best known for its weird and wild volcanic scenery, which was created by eruptions during the 18th century. However, the islands volcanic past is not a concern these days so visitors flock to the Timanfaya Volcano Park to view the impressive work of Mother Nature first hand.

Like many other holiday islands Lanzarote´s main appeal probably lies in its beaches. And there are some truly spectacular stretches of sand to discover here. Some of these, such as the bays and coves at Papagayo, are regarded as amongst the best in Spain. Papagayo is part of a protected area located in the south of the island close to the resort of Playa Blanca.

And they can be accessed via a coastal path which takes about 15 minutes to walk from the centre of the resort or by car, although visitors then have to pay a small admission fee, which is used to help maintain the beaches and the road.

Playa Blanca is the second most popular resort on Lanzarote, as well as the newest. As it was developed during the 1990´s. This is the spot where many independent tourists choose to take their holidays as there is a good selection of villas in Lanzarote for rent. Expect to pay upwards of €400 per week. Prices rise even higher as you travel along the coast in the direction of Puerto del Carmen, the islands oldest resort. Where tourists can find some of the most upmarket villas in Lanzarote Most of which are located in the central residential area of Los Mojones.

Whilst Puerto del Carmen and Playa Blanca tend to dominate the tourist market there is another resort which attracts tourists looking for a quieter holiday. Costa Teguise tends to appeal to older holidaymakers and young families. As there isn't as much nightlife in evidence here as in the other two main resorts. There are however plenty of excellent beaches such as Playa Bastian and Playa Cucharas for visitors to enjoy.
