I Was Thrilled To Find Some Great Round Area Rugs
When I originally decided to begin my own restaurant, I didn't realize that it would take such a huge amount of time trying to decide on all of the various options for furniture, fixtures and round area rugs. I actually had the hardest time choosing the area rugs, which doesn't really make sense, since most people visiting a restaurant don't pay the least bit of attention to the rugs on the floor.
The serious problems started when we hired a popular consultant to help us design the whole place. Since the building we were using was quite historic and a lot of people can have positive associations with the old company that was once housed in our location, we decided to keep their color scheme. This was fine with me, since they were nice restaurant colors anyway, and paint is easy to match, but the problem really came when we were looking for textiles.
We wanted cheap uniforms for our servers, but we wanted the colors to coordinate with the walls and furniture, which was tricky. Eventually, we got these problems sorted out with a lot of wheeling and dealing and I was feeling better about things. I was wrong, though, since we then realized that the dyes and fabrics used for the uniforms would not work for the rugs.
Like I said, most of the people who visit a restaurant never even give the rugs a second glance, but I still wanted to be choosy and ensure that they would tie the room together. We decided to custom order some rugs, but when they came, the color was all wrong and they looked terrible. I was quite disappointed, and didn't really know what to do and my scheduled grand opening was only a few weeks away. Feeling anxious, I took my consultant and we drove around the city to several different stores to see if we could find some round area rugs that might work, but not surprisingly, we didn't find any.
I thought we might be forced to use the custom rugs that we had, despite the fact that they were ugly, but I decided to hop on the computer and see what I could find on the Internet. After some time searching, I found a website that sold some really awesome rugs. I saw a few that were, amazingly, a perfect fit, as well as some antique oriental rugs that had a nice color scheme that would be perfect for our waiting area. They arrived, and when I put them in place, I was overjoyed, because the last hurdle before finally getting my own restaurant was gone!
