Being A Parent Involves Special Skills And Unique Obstacles

by Kevin M Bacon

All of us have to grow up, which means we all must experience the dreadful and stressful teenage years. Your kids are growing into adulthood and all the physical changes certainly do not often help matters. These changes are not easy to understand or deal with, but both you and your children must handle these challenges. As your children go through their teen years, they will also have positive and rewarding times. Often times, they will look back at their years in high school and see them as the best times of their life. Unfortunately, the exact opposite is the case for very many people because they were not liked, or were teased, etc.

All of us are individuals with our unique personalities and abilities which is why you should observe and learn as much about your own children as possible. We think most parents naturally do this because they spend so much time watching their children. However, we are specifically talking about using what you learn about your child as a helpful guide. Important things to look for include areas of life where they are having challenges and difficulties. This detailed analysis of their personalities will allow you to be supportive at the right times and help them through the valleys and troughs of life.

Our children take their cues from us in just about all manners. Children learn pretty early how each parent reacts to situations, so they know how to work them against each other. Since children tend to mimic or emulate the only thing they have been exposed to, it makes sense that some of your behaviors are passed right along to them. It is too bad that people have children before they have become a positive role model for themselves. Things happen, no matter how hard you try to keep everything running smoothly. As long as the out of control times are few and far between, then there will be an understanding with the children about them.

When you were a child, were you ever forced to do something that you could not stand to do, by one of your parents? There is usually at least one big thing, more than doing dishes, that a child is required to do. How often does a mother have some musical talent, and expect her children to like it as well as she does?

A child may have a talent in something, like a sport, or a musical instrument, but have no desire, and desire is not something that a parent give to the child. Nothing is more frustrating than watching a child try to live up to a parents expectation when there is no desire. That is why we recommend that you help your child explore their own natural inclinations and areas of interest in such activities.

There are a thousand situations in the parenting experience that will put you to the test. Raising children, and the little tests, can make or break a marriage. To raise a child to be a responsible person with positive values, will take parents who are willing to make any necessary changes in their own lives.
