When It Says Gluten Free, Does That Mean It Might Be Wheat Free Too?

by Joanne D

The answer is not that simple. You can be gluten free, you may be wheat free, or you can be both. If you need to choose only one, it's easier to remove wheat from your diet - the rest should come naturally.

The main reason I point out this is because not all so-called diets without gluten are ideal or the most healthy choice when it comes to your wellbeing. Manufacturers, in an effort to keep up with the need for food devoid of glutens, and to produce food that appears, tastes, and feels the same as traditional food, have resorted to using alternative ingredients that are not always good for us.

The fact is, healthy gluten free food is not going to look or feel the same, and may not be similar in taste.

Just because a food is made without gluten, and doesn't look exactly like regular food, doesn't mean it tastes awful.

It is possible to take the gluten out of wheat, but whatever you are making will still have wheat in it. For instance, consider something that you have baked that's prepared without gluten, keep in mind that it'll still have wheat.

Buyer beware.

Watch out for and avoid gluten free food that contains cornstarch, potato starch, rice starch, and tapioca starch. These additions may be just as unhealthy for you as gluten would be to your system.

My suggestion for any person that is gluten intolerant is to find a way to make homemade as much as possible in order to have a good diet.

For anyone that would like to be both gluten and wheat free, make sure to look at the labels carefully; checking for signs of less healthy alternatives that are used in the food. Remember, the manufacturer may have removed one of the things that you must avoid but that doesn't mean that the other one has been removed.

The choice that we made.

Eating healthy.

We decided that it was safer, easier, and healthier to go wheat free. We found that it was difficult to get good tasting food that doesn't have gluten. Once we completely eliminated both from the diet, it got much simpler to improve our eating habits. Now we look and feel a lot better.

Problem solved.

Alright, now that we've taken out wheat - what exactly can we have?

Seems it's not a problem whatsoever. You will see that nearly all of what you eat is protein, fruit, and vegetables.

That appears to be restrictive, but you are going to discover that there's a huge range of food which you can pick from, and a huge variety of things that you may make using these foods.

Eating an all-natural and healthy diet is the best thing that you can do for you.

Food That Is Natural.

Foods which are natural normally include coconut oil, walnut oil, olive oil -- healthy oils, avocados, fruit, vegetables, meat, fowl, fish, raw nuts, seeds, and eggs. Do yourself and your body a big favor by eating much more naturally.

For more flavor, feel free to add some spices and herbs.

An additional benefit is that whenever you go all-natural, and start using natural fat sources, you will naturally lose a few pounds.

You'll end up eating plenty of raw, which is the healthiest way you can eat.

You need to avoid all processed food, unhealthy foods, and take out restaurants.

By wiping out wheat from your diet, you will be eliminating the root of the unpleasant hunger cycles.

What you'll discover is you can eat a morning meal, lunch, and dinner without feeling hungry in between meals.

An added bonus - you won't have sugary cravings.

In time, you will notice that you taste and thoroughly enjoy every bite of your food again. You'll appreciate food and look forward to meal-times - without any guilt.

It requires around 30 days for your system to get accustomed to a new way of eating - it's a completely new habit so give it a chance. Stick to the strategy for no less than a month.

Before you know it, you'll very rarely experience hunger pains, you will enjoy your meals, you will not feel full and bloated right after eating, and you are not going to have a desire for sugary treats. Best of all, you may begin to drop weight without having to scale back on your serving sizes.

Just think - all of these benefits just because you cut wheat out of your diet.
