Outdoor Billboard Advertising – Refreshing!
Refreshing!
I don’t know about your state fair, but mine is of the sort that dreams are made of. I mean, good grief, it’s the Great Minnesota Get Together. I’m a big fan of the unlimited glass of milk, the bust of the Minnesota of the Year carved out of butter and for sure you’ll find me spending a lot of time at the freak show displays; it actually was one of the few things that my father and I did together in my formative years. And, of course, everybody goes nuts about the food, like the deep fried snickers bar on a stick. Culinary genius. As good as it tastes, to be honest I’m pretty sure that its not very healthy and I also think that its probably not a very impressive culinary feat. However, it does have great popular support and is momentarily very satisfying.
The deep-fried snickers bar is a lot like the food version of the band Tesla. I’m not so sure about their contribution to the history of music, but wow can they belt out a few sweet sing-a-longs. Like the song Signs. I know someone else wrote it, but I’m a Tesla guy. As toe tapping as the song is, its surprising to think about how socially aware that little number is. All those signs…who needs them?
While other forms of advertising has often kept one foot in the camp of pure merchandise promotion and the other in one that offers respect and homage to art and creativity, outdoor billboard advertising has remained strictly stagnate and boring. Outdoor billboard advertising has offered little to the community’s in which it resides, but most certainly has taken something away. So much like Tesla or the gratifying deep fried snickers bar, I feel that not everything must be a wholly positively contributing component to society, but at least don’t leave the world worse off because of your existence.
