A Roaring 20s Party Is An Excellent Costume Party with the Proper Supplies and Invitations
A Roaring 20s party can be great fun. Make sure that your roaring 20s party invitations should scream Prohibition! Drinking and gambling were even more fun when they weren't allowed! Your invitations should be sent out at least three weeks ahead of time, because this is a masquerade party like no other, and guests will need to get their costumes ready. Certain guests will choose to make their Roaring 20s outfits by hand. Others may purchase at least parts of them, like long faux beads and headbands with a single fancy feather. Others may go as far as renting an authentic Roaring 20s costume.
Males can wear spats. A reasonable facsimile of these can actually be made by purchasing white or off-white vinyl and cutting out the design to fit over a regular shoe. If done correctly, and the pants hang over them nicely, nobody will know the difference. The inventive guest could win first prize in a costume contest. Gangsters carried around guns at that time, strapped across their shoulders and under their dress jackets. But don't be too authentic here. You don't want people to get nervous. Maybe paint the play gun red or blue.
A guest might choose to take on a certain role at the party, like Dillinger or a famed Charleston dancer. And don't forget the music. The Roaring 20s had some hot tunes, and if they are played the dancing should begin. Guests might get a real kick out of a Charleston contest.
The winner of the costume party should get a primo prize. There may be a woman and a man for the winners. Be sure to put prizes on your list of roaring 20s party supplies. A bottle of gin might be appropriate as a prize, since the Roaring 20s was during the time of the Prohibition.
The festivity also might double as a Game Night. It can be more fun when fake chips and play money are used. Gaming tables can be set up, and there can be a table for playing cards, as well. These things all need to be considered when purchasing and gathering the supplies for this type of party.
And the more authentic the décor, the better. Chandeliers, darkened rooms, perhaps smoke-filled with a fog machine, would add much to be atmosphere. Have a bar and a buffet of appetizers, and the party is sure to be a huge success.
